Celebration of the Dorcas Ministry: In light of the retirement of our Dorcas reception group, we want to have a special recognition of our Dorcas ministry to thank everyone who has faithfully and lovingly provided receptions to grieving families for many decades. On Sunday, October 3 following the worship service, please come to a traditional Dorcas reception with fin- ger food and punch (including of course, tuna and egg salad sandwiches with no crusts), as our way to say thank to everyone who has been part of the special ministry (and no, you don’t have to do a thing except come and enjoy). Youth Ministry Classes begin Wed., 09/29 at 7 pm in room 204 with parent/student orientation. Our goal it to sing during Sunday worship once a month. Your child will learn about music theory, fun songs, and a musical way to praise God and all his glories. Fellowship Events For everyone from preschoolers to baby boomers and beyond! October’s family event (Sun., 10/03) is boo- ling! This is a fun family event for all ages, even our seniors! Were you part of the St. John bowling league back in the day? You are invited as well! It’s time to dust off your bowling ball and shoes and come show off your bowling prowess (albeit a little rusty perhaps). Meet at Aloma Bowling Center, 2530 Aloma Ave, Winter Park, FL at 4 pm for a fun filled afternoon. Gutter bumpers are available for our younger bowlers. Upon arrival, please check in at the designated St. John bowling lane for your lane assign- ment and to pay (cash, with your debit/credit card using the Square Card reader or scan the QR code). Cost is $8.50 for 2 games (6 per lane) and $4 shoe rental. There will be prizes for most gutter balls, most strikes, most family members attend- ing and the youngest and oldest bowlers. Outreach Ministries This year’s God’s Work Our Hands outreach event will be on Saturday, 10/02 from 9 a.m. to noon. This year we are reaching out to reach in! So that means we are going to take some time around our own church campus to clean up, tidy up and get ready for the next chap- ter. After over a year and half it could use some sprucing up. So meet at church with work/ paint clothes at 9 a.m. on the 25th. Early arrivals will get a God’s Work My Hands t-shirt. We will have a list of projects and finish up by noon. Pizza for lunch will be the well deserved reward! Hope to see you there. Music Ministries Chancel Choir: Chancel choir rehearsals are back on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. with Dorian Copenhaver serving as Chan- cel choir director, Clara Ivanoff as assistant conductor and accompanist and Jerry Fritz as organist and accompanist. Education Ministries Outreach Ministries Supporting St. John Ministries There are various ways to donate funds to St. John through electronic means and also the old school way (checks and/or cash). Your contributions to help our ministries keep growing is vital to St. John and we appreciate all of the support and care you have shared especially during theses past two years. During Sunday worship, offering plates are available on the table in front of the baptismal font and also on the table as you exit from communion at the end of the pews.
