Sharon Burns, Community Relations Coordinator Lansing USD 469 Community Relations Report June 14, 2021 Board of Education Meeting _________________________________________________________ • End of Year Newsletter completed and shared via Skyward and posted on website / social media on May 27, 2021 o Created page for each district-level department to feature o Now that the pages are set up, we can provide updates from each department monthly during 2021-2022 school year o Working with Dan on calendar with what we would like to highlight each month • Updates from Leavenworth County Health Department regarding COVID19 testing and results (Mondays) • Positive cases in buildings emailed to staff, emailed to community, and posted on website / shared on social media • Share Leavenworth County Health Department vaccination clinics each week • Updated Image Rotator (Banner on top of each school page) • Weekly Remote Meal Ordering reminder posted on website and sent as Skyward email • Working with Dan Wessel and Kevin McCarley to create an evaluation form for district-level jobs • REMINDER: If you don’t already have it, download the free Lansing USD 469 app to stay up to date on things happening in our district. I send out a notification via the app for every article posted on the website. Click here for instructions. • • Ongoing coverage of things going on in the district shared on website and social media. Order forms must be completed every week. • May 6, 2021 - LHS National Honor Society Brings Awareness to Mental Health in May The group created a "Ted Talk"-like presentation, a slideshow, and a website that has information about mental health and resources. As many may remember, Lansing High School Student Council held a tremendously successful toy drive in March, bringing in over $3,500 worth of toys, books, and art supplies for our Early Childhood students. • May 7, 2021 - Weekly Update of Lansing High School Students Enrolled in KCKCC Pioneer Classes - Electrical and Culinary Lansing High School students enrolled in Electrical and Culinary classes through Kansas City Kansas Community College Pioneer Career Center (KCKCC PCC) finished the month of April strong with a productive week! • May 6, 2021 - Regular Board of Education Meeting Agenda - May 10, 2021 at 6:00pm The Lansing Board of Education will hold their regular meeting on Monday, May 10, 2021 at 6:00pm. • May 7, 2021 - Lansing Graduate, Jacob Litewski, Headed to Nationals for SkillsUSA Masonry Competition! Sharon Burns, Community Relations Coordinator Lansing USD 469 Community Relations Report June 14, 2021 Board of Education Meeting _________________________________________________________ • May 7, 2021 - Fire Alarm Pulled at Lansing Elementary School - FALSE ALARM A student pulled the fire alarm at Lansing Elementary School this afternoon. Emergency vehicles responded to the false alarm, and everyone is safe. Classes have resumed as usual. • May 7, 2021 - A Huge Thank You to Nine-Year-Old Erin Slattery For Collecting Monetary Donations For LMS Lion's Pantry Lansing USD 469 would like to thank Miss Erin Slattery for her donation to our Lansing Middle School Lion's Pantry. • May 10, 2021 - Lansing USD 469 Positive COVID19 Cases - May 9, 2021 Sunday, May 9, 2021 Lansing Early Childhood: • 1 staff member tested positive. 12 individuals were considered close contacts with this positive case. • May 10, 2021 – Leavenworth County Health Department Monday Update 23 New Positive Community Cases in our county • May 11, 2021 - Board of Education Meeting Recap - Monday, May 10, 2021 (Regular Meeting) Click link for items voted on / discussed. Sharon Burns, Community Relations Coordinator Lansing USD 469 Community Relations Report June 14, 2021 Board of Education Meeting _________________________________________________________ • May 19, 221 - High Schoolers Use Water Bottle Rockets to Learn Quadratic Functions (VIDEO) To demonstrate the real world application of Quadratic equations, Mr. Wiltse and Mrs. Lang had their students make water bottle rockets. After launching their rockets, students used their knowledge of parabolas and projectiles to find the velocity and maximum height of their rockets. • May 19, 2021 - REMINDER: Order Next Week's Remote Meals by 7pm Tonight! Lansing USD 469 is excited to virtually showcase artwork from across our district! • May 25, 2021 - Lansing Elementary and Intermediate Schools Celebrate End of Year with Field Days! Kindergarten through fifth graders had a blast this week in their grade level field days! • May 25, 2021 - Check Out Lansing High School Choirs Recording on YouTube! After a year of achievement and accolades, the LHS Choirs have posted some of their recordings from this past semester on YouTube. • May 26, 2021 - Third Grade Students and Teachers Show Appreciation of Custodial Staff on May 25th!
