Term 2 Week 3 Principal's report It has been fantastic to see so many of our students return to school over the past two weeks. We are currently sitting at around 89% attendance. We have seen our students very quickly develop an incredible level of independence as they arrive at school and enter through the gates ready for learning. We continue to thank our community for their amazing cooperation with the restrictions that are in place around school access. It is reassuring to know that we have our school being supported by everyone. We continue to be updated by the Chief Executive and our Education Director weekly around the virus and the measures that schools must put in place to minimize risk. We have had clear communication around this and have auctioned each measure. The Department check in regularly to ensure the site has adequate supplies of soap, sanitiser, wipes and toilet paper. We have been very fortunate that our stocks have always been ample. Students will still receive a written report at the end of this term. This will provide information about the learning that has been provided to the class teacher for assessment. As we were unable to conduct our normal student led interviews in term 1 I want to advise our families that they are able to communicate with class teachers through the regular communication channels of the school if they wish to be updated before reports go home. This can be through the teacher's email, Dojo, Seesaw or a call to the school. External service providers, including Occupational therapists, Speech Pathologists, Nurses etc. are now able to come into the school providing they can follow social distancing requirement and hand hygiene. Parent access to the school is limited to those visiting the distribution centre and front o ce. If you require to come to the front o ce we ask that you call ahead to ensure you can enter at a quiet time. We can have one parent in the front o ce at a time once children have left. If you are unsure please give us a call. Information regarding gates and home learning is included below for your reference. Stay well and stay safe Kind regards Michelle Lennox

Attendance Matters - Lateness We have noticed an increase in students arriving to school after 8:40am and want to emphasise the importance of students being at school on time. Due to COVID-19 we are having to submit rolls early. Late arrivals are being recorded from 8:45 AM currently. School starts at 8:40am every morning and students need to be in their class so that they can start their lessons promptly. Students who arrive late do not get the opportunity to start the day with their peers in a calm and routine way. This can lead to feeling unsettled and restless throughout the day. We want to ensure that all students have the best opportunity to experience success at school and engage in their learning which is why we encourage students and families to establish routines that support this. Although 10 minutes doesn’t seem like much, if a student is 10 minutes late every day, they will miss 50 minutes of schooling per week, 8 hours per term, 1 week per year and 3 months of their entire student life (Rec-Yr 12). Now consider how much schooling they will miss if they are 20 or 30 minutes late. We do understand that there are occasions when students are unavoidably late due to unforeseen circumstances and on these occasions it is important to inform the school by contacting the front o ce. If you are nding it di cult to get your child to school on time, we can support you with this. Please reach out so that we can work through any barriers together. We are grateful for your support with this matter. Remember, breakfast club is available every day from 8:00 – 8:20am.

Market Fresh SA On Wednesday Lake Windemere were very lucky to receive a donation of fresh oranges from Market Fresh SA to mark the start of the local citrus season! These oranges will be in classrooms and will also be used for our Breakfast Club. Did you know that oranges are a great source of Vitamin C and boost our immunity ready for the winter months? They are also excellent lunch box snacks because they last longer than many other fruits when stored. So next time you are at the shop, support our local growers and buy some delicious South Australian oranges. A very big thank you to Market Fresh SA for the delivery! Addison Ince and Cole Wilson received the delivery on behalf of the school. Julia Polisena Student Wellbeing Leader
Shape Competition - 2D and 3D This term the year 6/7 classes have been learning about 2D and 3D shapes. All of the classes learnt about the shapes their names and properties. Students were given a booklet to guide them through the process of designing a Radical Robot. They brainstormed some ideas for their robots, recorded the materials required, gured out what shapes they would need to incorporate before nally designing their robots. All students spent lots of time constructing nets, colouring their designs and assembling pieces and even making accessories! Although most students used paper and cardboard, some went all out and brought materials from home such as clay! The students really enjoyed the making process and many were pleased with the nished product. Even with the time limit provided, the students created some amazing robots
