English Classes
The Irish College of English is recognised by ACELS, a
service of Quality and Qualifications Ireland, for
English Language Teaching. Progression is our focus
and we aim to develop a natural interest and love of
the language in our students. As part of our
academic policy, students are evaluated on
registration and placed at the correct level. On
completion of their course, students receive a
progress report from their teacher and a
certificate of attainment.
Lessons are held every morning, from Monday to
Friday and each course is supported by its own
carefully planned syllabus and course book. Lessons
focus on developing the core language skills, with
specific emphasis given to speaking and listening.
We use highly interactive exercises and task
based projects to refine and amplify our students’
communication skills.
As part of our continuous efforts
to maintain high quality classes
and to enhance our student’s
experience, we have introduced
the Intercultural Irish Teenage
Programme. Each week Irish
teenagers join lessons to lead an
exercise alongside our teachers
giving our students the
opportunity to connect with
young Irish people. We have had

Quality accommodation is a key focus at the Irish College of
English. Our locations are excellent and Malahide is one of
Dublin’s most prestigious areas to live in. We only use host
family accommodation within walking distance of our schools
and as we operate all year round, we build strong relationships
within the community and with all our host families. We have a
full-time team dedicated to visiting and ensuring the quality of
our home stays. Student Welfare is our main concern and we
choose our families very carefully to ensure excellent
homestays.

Students attending our Junior Summer Camps at Glenstal
Abbey and Clongowes Wood College stay in these historic
campuses. There is a mix of different sized, single gender,
dorm rooms with 2 – 8 students per room. Showers and toilets
are adjacent to the rooms. There are recreational areas
including games and cinema rooms. All meals are prepared on
site by superb catering teams.

Accommodation
All our accommodation is in homestays in Malahide in walking distance
of our school. We guarantee one nationality per family unless friends
wish to stay together. Our hosts typically take 2-3 students at a time
with a maximum of 2 students per bedroom. Families will do student's
laundry as part of their normal home routine. We carefully match
students with families.
Meals
Families provide breakfast, packed lunch and evening meal. Meals are
nutritious and we can cater for special diets on request. On arrival we
also give students a welcome pack including a reusable water bottle
and our school has a water refilling station.
Weekday Activities
Students have a full schedule from 8.45am – 5pm each day from
Monday to Friday. Classes in the morning and activities & tours in the
Malahide afternoon/evening. Students have an experienced Irish Leader with
Dublin them on all activities. Our students go to Dublin city centre at least
Airport twice a week and have an engaging fun programme of tours, sports,
shows and leisure activities.

Dublin Each Saturday our students have a full day trip to see the best of the
surrounding areas. Sample Day Trips: Glendalough, Kilkenny, Belfast,

Families provide breakfast, packed lunch and evening meal. Meals are
nutritious and we can cater for special diets on request. On arrival we
also give the students a welcome pack including a reusable water
bottle and our school has a water refilling station.
Weekday Activities
Students have a full schedule from 8.45am – 5pm each day from
Monday to Friday. Classes in the morning and horse riding & tours in
the afternoon/evening. Students have an experienced Irish Leader with
them on all activities. Our students go to Dublin city centre once a
Malahide week.

adjacent to the rooms.

At Glenstal Abbey the food is one of the highlights of student’s stays.
The superb catering staff provide hot meal options at Breakfast, Lunch
and Dinner with an evening Snack. The food is of high quality and
locally sourced and a great variety is on offer. On arrival students also
receive a refillable water bottle for their stay. We can cater for special
dietary requirements on request.

team building and fun activities.

students have the opportunity to follow The Wild Atlantic Way and see
the highlights of this amazing coastline. Students have 2 full Day Tours
