konverjdans IN PARTNERSHIP WITH PRESENTS: Welcome to the 2021 Riverside Dance Festival. I am so thrilled to finally konverjdans (after a postponement in 2020) have konverjdans back with us in Vero! The fact that this is a true convergence and the company is sharing the stage with our own resident dancers and students from this year’s festival, well, I could not have asked for more! I think what has always drawn me to Tiffany, Jordan, and Amy (and therefore konverjdans) is that I truly take inspiration from both who they are as people and who they are as artists. I have always been inspired by Tiffany Mangulabnan, Jordan Miller, Amy Saunder their warmth, passion, and daring. This last year it was a joy to see how they responded to the global pandemic: doing more (with less) than some major Artistic Directors dance organizations I know. They not only did more, but the art they created was good! Trust me, that last point may seem superfluous, but it isn’t. Their Katherine Eppink, Camilo A. Rodriguez, willingness to take a bad situation and use it as a springboard for growth in Anders Southerland their art and company got me through many moments of self doubt recently, Guest Dancers from Ballet Vero Beach and for that I am truly grateful. Speaking of self doubt, I had a chance to do a lot of soul searching and self Sweet Megg reflection this summer. No, I did not achieve enlightenment, but I did circle Guest Musician back around to something that is providing me even greater energy in all things BVB as we start our ninth season. Keep surrounding myself (and by extension all of you) with inspirational artists and individuals. That goes And Students From The 2021 Riverside Dance Festival for konverjdans, our own dancers, board, staff, donors, and volunteers, our phenomenal partners at Riverside Theatre, and yes the amazing young people you will see on stage tonight. It doesn’t just take a village in this day BALLET VERO BEACH’S 2020 -2021 SEASON and age, and I am lucky to have so many wonderful sources of inspiration to IS GRACIOUSLY UNDERWRITTEN BY keep me, and Ballet Vero Beach, surging forward. Alan and Donna Edelstein, Stacey and Robert Lewis, Lisa McLaughlin, Susan and Larry Salustro, Thank you so much for joining us, and enjoy the performance! EDUCATION AND ENGAGEMENT I N I T I A T I V E S Ballet Vero Beach seeks to promote the universal language of dance to the broadest spectrum of our community. To that end, the company provides absolutely free educational enrichment and performance tickets to local organizations serving constituents who would not ordinarily access our programming. Additionally, we provide absolutely free student matinee performances to 1st, 3rd, and 4th graders in Indian River County. We are currently partnering with The Learning Alliance to transfer these matinees into conduits to assist with early literacy. Our Accessible/Family Friendly Series seeks to provide subsidized professional level arts experiences for individuals with differing abilities as well as families with young children. Please support our partner organizations, local educators, and funders in these endeavors. We hope you will make our guests feel welcome, and thank our entire community for recognizing that the arts are an integral part of our society. Ballet Vero Beach is thrilled that youth constituents from both our Ticket Donation Program and Student Matinee Series participate on stage in “Nutcracker on the Indian River.” To learn more about our Ticket Donation Program or Student Matinee Series, or if your organization or educational program would like to Ballet Vero Beach’s education participate, please contact us at info@balletverobeach.org. and community engagement programs are better with support from: OUR DEEPEST APPRECIATION TO: PRODUCTION STAFF ANDREW CURRIE MATTHEW AND WILLIAM GIBBONS-BROWN ORGANIZATIONAL STAFF LIGHTING D ES IGNER REBEKKA GOLDBERG JENNIFER KRONENBERG AND B OA R D O F D I R E CTO RS SARAH CAIL AMY BOWMAN STAGE OPERAT IO NS MANAGER CARLOS GUERRA LINDA DOWNEY (Chair) JOE SEMKOW AARON MARTIN ALAN EDELSTEIN COMPANY DAN KONDAS ADAM SCHNELL P HOTOGRAP HERS PRODU CTIO N MANAGER KAREN WIGGINS A RT ISTIC DIR ECTOR /CE O SHELLY JENKINS RIVERSIDE THEATRE STACEY LEWIS ERICKA REARDIN LANCE GLENN VBHS INTERNATIONAL THESPIAN CAMILO A.
