When those rare and precious moments of silence do come by, Today is the feast of our parish namesake. Holy recognize them, and accept them truly as a gift Spirit. We cannot exactly say that Pentecost is from God. our patronal feast day. First, Pentecost was Most times, we simply must push through noise: an event. Second, the Holy Spirit is divine not Background noise. Tuning it out, as it were, to human. The term ‘namesake’ is about the best the point that we hardly notice. For example, the we can do. That’s okay with me. Having a direct ticking of a clock, the whir of a fan, traffic, and line to divinity is good, very good. It doesn’t get boat motors from nearby lakes. much better than this. A foundation that is Fr. Wayne more than sufficient upon which to establish such an openness to God and God’s ways. Acquiring a sense of the movements of Holy Spirit is something that happens gradually into which we must grow. A groundwork, per se, must be put into place. For the disciples, it was through direct experience with Jesus. Because he is no longer physically present, the surest way for us to gain such a readiness for the indwelling of the Holy Spirit is getting to know Jesus through the eyes of the gospel writers. From there we branch out into the other books of the bible. By doing so, we are drawn into deeper relationship with the Lord. Quiet time for thoughtful consideration of God’s word is requisite. The more time we allow, the stronger the relationship. Consider noises that surround us: Mechanical, electronic, people [there are those who just simply generate noise], and even nature is not necessarily quiet. Such opportunities for quiet

Our Mission Statement: A community led by the Holy Spirit, accompanying others to encounter Jesus, giving witness to Him, and growing as missionary disciples. Reflec ng on the Gospel WE ARE NOW about fi y days, or seven weeks, from Easter. To be clear, Pentecost was a Jewish feast of the spring me, also known as the Feast of Weeks, or the Please Join Us! Feast of the New Harvest or even the Feast of New Wine. Because it comes about fi y days (Lev 23:16) for a Pancake Breakfast a er the feast of Passover it was also called Pentecost following the (which means "fi y" in Greek). The Acts of the Apostles 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM Masses tell us that it was on the Jewish Feast of Pentecost that on Sunday, June 12 the apostles were emboldened by the Spirit to preach to Israel, assembled in Jerusalem for the feast.
