INTRODUCTION TO GYMNASTICS: Movement education, basic tumbling skills and an introduction to gymnastics
apparatus as a basis for more formal gymnastics instructions and as a good foundation for other sports.

INTRODUCTION TO TAP/BALLET: This class introduces the fundamentals of Ballet and Tap along with the
enjoyment of movement to music for children age 4, must enrolled in a Prek 4 program.
WEDNESDAYS 3:45-4:45pm (Age 4) Children need ballet and tap shoes and must be appropriate age at first class.

MS. PATTY’S TUMBLE-TIME: Movement education classes featuring activities with large-muscle
motor skills and basic gymnastics concepts using gymnastics apparatus.
For children ages 16 - 23 months (Tumble Babies), 2 yrs. old (Tumble Tots), or 3 yrs. old (Tumble Bees)
Note: Tumble Babies and Tots are with an adult; Tumble-Time Bee’s must separate- if not should attend Tumble Tots.

Introductory gymnastics classes geared to the developmental stages of children ages 16-23 months (Tumble Babies),
24 to 35 months (Tumble Tots), 36 to 48 months (Tumble Bees). Children and parents will enjoy exploratory activities
followed by instruction with emphasis placed on large motor skills and basic gymnastic concepts, accomplished
through music and varied activities on our agility and gymnastics apparatus.

No jewelry (especially earrings) - jewelry presents a danger to gymnasts and instructors.
Important: Masks must be worn upon entry and exit of the building. Gymnasts are encouraged to
wear masks during class to the extent that they are able.

The Spring session is open to all interested participants, but it should be noted that instruction of new skills
will be extremely limited due to preparation for the show performances. Please choose the class time for your
child’s grade level that corresponds to the show that best fits your schedule. Gymnasts will not be permitted
to participate in a show that does not align with their chosen class.
Please Note: Masks are required for entry/exit into the building as well as during warm-ups.
Gymnasts are encouraged to wear their masks to the extent that they are able.
There is limited space in each show performance.

need to purchase new outfits if you have them already. But if you wish to buy one, inexpensive leotards
may be purchased online, just google “gymnastics leotard” and lots of choices will come up. Please do not
purchase leos that have frills or skirts. They are inappropriate for gymnastics. Bare feet are a must for
everyone while performing. Absolutely NO jewelry. No exceptions!
Please do not plan newly pierced ears near show date.

ability and prior experience. Placement in the proper instructional group is crucial to your child’s safety and

How would you like to help send a rescue dog to its “fur-ever” home?! The
remarkable feeling of rescuing current dogs waiting for “fur-ever” is boundless.
Find out how being an animal rescuer combines empathy, technology, writing, team
building, and marketing skills all in one. Practice how rescue organizations edit
photos and videos of the dogs and write creative descriptions for social media
postings. Many rescue workers do not work directly with the dogs themselves.
Their behind the scenes work brings a rescue dog to its final destination: A “fur-
ever” home.
Requirements: a personal iPad with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth (charged and ready) and the
PicCollage App downloaded (it’s free).
Upon entering and exiting the building everyone must have a mask on. Once inside the class, if
students are able to physically distance, they can remove the mask. In addition, our lobbies are
closed, therefore drop off and pick up must be prompt.

Spring 2021
CrossFit Kids at The Rock is a functional strength and conditioning program designed especially
for kids, utilizing the revolutionary CrossFit method. We teach children about functional exercises
that mimic the everyday movements they do when they play- like pull, push, run throw, climb, lift
and jump. We promote better nutrition and eating habits and the development of greater self-
confidence, leadership and teamwork skills. We focus on having fun, building strong and healthy
bodies and minds, and develop within your child a lifelong love of fitness.
This exciting program is for boys and girls ages 6-8 and 9-12 (1-hour class).
All classes are taught by CrossFit The Rock certified coaches.

DODGEBALL
Come on down to play everyone’s favorite game!! Doctor Dodgeball,
Prison Dodge, Pinball, GaGa and Scatterball are just of the few of the
variations of dodgeball that will be played under the guidance of the
Rec. Department Staff. Open to children in grades 2-5.
Thursday afternoons from 4-5pm in the upstairs gym.

Do you love board and card games but can’t seem to get enough people together to
play? Parents, would you like to get your kids off their tablets and play the games you
grew up with? Come to the Rec to safely socialize, make new friends and play classics or
learn new games. Headbandz, Spot It!, Clue, Monopoly, Jenga, Apples to Apples,
Battleship and many more!

SPRING 2021
Co-Ed Kickball League
Eligibility 4th, 5th, 6th, & 7th grade boys and girls who live in Rockville Centre or attend RVC Schools
(Including St. Agnes)
Two Divisions: Elementary (4th & 5th) and Middle School (6th & 7th)
Season: Games are played weekday afternoons 3:30pm or 4:45pm start time
First game tentatively scheduled for the week of April 12th
Recreation staff “umpires” will guide players for a safe and enjoyable game.
Location: All games played at Veteran’s Park basketball court (located behind the Rec. Center - east of tennis courts)
No cleats or spiked shoes, sneakers only.
Fee: $30 per player, plus a valid recreation card $24
Note: Rec. membership was included in Summer Playground or Baseball School
Team captains must submit a roster of players by April 5th
(Roster can be emailed to MRessegger@rvcny.us or dropped at the Rec Center )

BASIC KICKBALL RULES
10 players on the field at a time (can play with 8)
All players bat (kick)
3 outs per half inning. 5 run mercy per inning except for last inning.
1 hour 15 minute time limit on games or 6 complete innings
ANY UNNECESSARY ROUGHNESS OR POOR SPORTSMANSHIP
WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE SUSPENSION
Teams must have a minimum of 11 players to participate in the league (15 players max)
Team Captains must submit a roster by Monday, April 5th, 5pm

Train your dog to be a better member of the home & community!

Prepare your dog for the “social season” with a 10-week session of Dog Obedience classes, taught by Rena
Dershowitz. Group classes offer natural distractions, learn-by-example, and a comfortable environment for you
and your dog to grow. Three classes are offered weekly on Monday evenings.
One (10 week) Spring session: Mondays, April 5th to June 14th
For Spring 2021: Puppy Kindergarten will be offered as 2 separate 5-week sessions
Puppy 1: April 5, 12, 19, 26 May. 3
Puppy 2: May. 10, 17, 24 June. 7, 14
ALL DOG HANDLERS MUST BE AT LEAST 17.
