Patriotic songs are a great way to ignite the spirit of nationalism among young children. Hence, the students of Class 9 listened to many patriotic songs such as Ae Watan, Saare Jahan Se, Teri Mitti, etc on the first day of Independence Day celebration week. This was followed by the singing of the National Anthem to instill patriotic sentiments in students. The importance of freedom and its true value can be understood by knowing how hard it was to get and how it needed the valour and sacrifice of many of our national heroes. Hence, to sensitize our students, a short film was shown to the students of Class 9 on the second day of the Independence Day celebration week. Historic events like the Jalianwala Bagh massacre, Gandhi Ji's Dandi March, and its importance in the freedom struggle were all part of the
film. This was followed by a short video showing respect for our tricolour and the country. Children of today are the foundation of our future as a country, our greatest asset as a nation. They will be the leaders of our country, the creators of our national wealth who care for and protect our people. To appreciate this thought, a session was conducted on the third day of the Independence Day
celebration week where the children expressed themselves on the topic – ‘India of my Dreams’. They believed India of the future would be a land of peace, prosperity, and truthfulness-where no one is afraid of speaking the truth and where there is no corruption. They reinforced that the India of their dreams will be a place where there will be peace, harmony and every citizen will be literate. To conclude, they all wished that India will be a place where women are respected and people of all religions co-exist, and where every citizen is proud to be an Indian.
