Order of Worship – 10:00 A.M. Service
Gather and Spend Time with God Together
    Preparing your home for Worship
Create a space that brings reminders of God's presence and love. Pitcher
of water and bowl. Candle. Seasonal flowers. Picture. Bible. Cross. Make it
a joyful and prayerful place. Ask everyone in your home for suggestions.
Before the gathering time: play music, turn off devices not used for
worship, start to pay attention to your breath as a gift from God. Pray.
Worshiping together as house churches in the model of Acts 2:46-47.

   Opening Prayer
Un-stop our ears, O God, that we may hear your Word
    proclaimed this day.
Open our minds and hearts to be changed.
Free us from the unclean spirits of worry, fear,
    destruction, and pride.
Teach us, Lord, that we may follow you more faithfully.
Opening Hymn “For The Healing of the Nations” UMH 428
 1. For the healing of the nations, 2. Lead us forward into freedom,
Lord, we pray with one accord; from despair your world release,
for a just and equal sharing that, redeemed from war and
of the things that earth affords. hatred, all may come and go in
To a life of love in action peace. Show us how, through care

                                     2
3. All that kills abundant living, 4. You, Creator-God, have written
 let it from the earth be banned:          your great name on humankind;
pride of status, race or schooling, for our growing in your likeness,
 dogmas that obscure your plan.            bring the life of Christ to mind;
In our common quest for justice that by our response and service

                       Proclamation and Response
Day by day, as they spent much time together in temple, they broke bread
at home and ate their food with glad and generous hearts…” Acts 2:46

    First Testament Reading Deuteronomy 18:15-20
15 The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from

among your own people; you shall heed such a prophet. 16 This is
what you requested of the LORD your God at Horeb on the day of the
assembly when you said: “If I hear the voice of the LORD my God any
more, or ever again see this great fire, I will die.” 17 Then
the LORD replied to me: “They are right in what they have said. 18 I
will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their own
people; I will put my words in the mouth of the prophet, who shall
speak to them everything that I command. 19 Anyone who does not
heed the words that the prophet shall speak in my name, I myself will
hold accountable. 20 But any prophet who speaks in the name of
other gods, or who presumes to speak in my name a word that I have
not commanded the prophet to speak—that prophet shall die.”

    Psalter Psalm 111 UMH 832-833
    1 Praise the LORD!

I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart,
in the company of the upright, in the congregation.
2 Great are the works of the LORD,

studied by all who have pleasure in them.
3 Full of honor and majesty are the works of the Lord,

       whose righteousness endures for ever.
    4 Who has caused his wonderful works to be remembered;

the LORD is gracious and merciful.
5 He provides food for the faithful

and is ever mindful of his covenant.
                                       3
6 He has shown his people the power of his works,
by giving them the heritage of the nations.
   7 The works of the Lord’s hands are faithful and just;

      the precepts of the Lord are trustworthy;
8 They are established for ever and ever,

to be performed with faithfulness and uprightness.
   9 The Lord sent redemption to his people;

and has commanded his covenant for ever.
Holy and wondrous is God’s name.
   10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom;

all those who practice it have a good understanding.
The praise of the Lord endures forever.

   Gospel Reading Mark 1:21-28
21 They went to Capernaum; and when the sabbath came, he entered

the synagogue and taught. 22 They were astounded at his teaching, for
he taught them as one having authority, and not as the
scribes. 23 Just then there was in their synagogue a man with an
unclean spirit, 24 and he cried out, “What have you to do with us,
Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you
are, the Holy One of God.” 25 But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be
silent, and come out of him!” 26 And the unclean spirit, convulsing
him and crying with a loud voice, came out of him. 27 They were all
amazed, and they kept on asking one another, “What is this? A new
teaching—with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits,
and they obey him.” 28 At once his fame began to spread throughout
   the surrounding region of Galilee.

   The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy
kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give
us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses as we
forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
   Invitation to Christ’s Table
   Confession and Assurance
Let us confess together that we have not always lived as those
forgiven, set free, and united in Christ:
O God, source of life and grace, we are aware that we are,
at times, prisoners of fear and habit. Through the healing
touch of Christ, set us free to live and to love, that we may
be the people you have created us to be. Amen.
All are welcomed to lift prayers in silence.
  Words of Assurance
The good news is that Christ calls us to new life and enables us to begin
again and again and again. Let us praise God with songs of joy!

                 Thanksgiving and Communion
The Great Thanksgiving
Pastor: The Lord be with you.
People: And also with you.
Pastor: Lift up your hearts.
People: We lift them up to the Lord.
Pastor: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
People: It is right to give our thanks and praise.
Pastor: It is right, and a good and joyful thing,
always and everywhere to give thanks to you,
Almighty God, creator of heaven and earth.
You formed us in your image
and breathed into us the breath of life.
When we turned away, and our love failed,
your love remained steadfast.
You delivered us from captivity,
made covenant to be our sovereign God,
and spoke to us through the prophets.
And so, with your people on earth
and all the company of heaven
we praise your name and join their unending hymn:
People: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.
Pastor: Holy are you, and blessed is your Son Jesus Christ.
Your Spirit anointed him to preach good news to the poor,
to proclaim release to the captives and recovering of sight to the
blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed,
                                   6
and to announce that the time had come when you would save your
people. He healed the sick, fed the hungry, and ate with sinners.
By the baptism of his suffering, death, and resurrection
you gave birth to your Church, delivered us from slavery to sin and
death, and made with us a new covenant by water and the Spirit.
When the Lord Jesus ascended, he promised to be with us always,
in the power of your Word and Holy Spirit.
On the night in which he gave himself up for us,
he took bread, gave thanks to you, broke the bread,
gave it to his disciples, and said:
"Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you.
Do this in remembrance of me."
When the supper was over, he took the cup,
gave thanks to you, gave it to his disciples, and said:
"Drink from this, all of you; this is my blood of the new covenant,
poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins.
Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me."
And so,
in remembrance of these your mighty acts in Jesus Christ,
we offer ourselves in praise and thanksgiving
as a holy and living sacrifice,
in union with Christ's offering for us,
as we proclaim the mystery of faith.
People: Christ has died; Christ is risen; Christ will come
again.
Pastor: Pour out your Holy Spirit on us gathered here,
and on these gifts of bread and wine.
Make them be for us the body and blood of Christ,
that we may be for the world the body of Christ,
redeemed by his blood.
By your Spirit make us one with Christ,
one with each other,
and one in ministry to all the world,
until Christ comes in final victory
and we feast at his heavenly banquet.
Through your Son Jesus Christ,
with the Holy Spirit in your holy Church,
all honor and glory is yours, Almighty God,
now and forever.
ALL: Amen.
                                   7
