into the exciting world of Watercolor, Acrylic, Oil and Mixed Media.
We meet every Wednesday at Bayshore House on the Southside
from 1pm to 3pm for an open class where everyone paints their
own piece in a relaxed atmosphere. We are a group of beginners,
intermediate and advanced artists all learning something new.

We had fun but were somewhat limited in presenting events in 2021.

Canadian Club 2022
We’re back and covid free.
The Canadian Club of Colony Cove Meetings will start on the third Tuesday of the month
January 20, 2022 at Manatee Hall starting at 10:00.
Coffee and donuts will be available for all. We may not all be back but we will be soon.
Please plan on wearing a mask as this virus is not over yet.
We are looking forward to seeing all of you on the 20th.

We’re Back! Hope you didn’t miss the Christmas Luncheon at the OysterBar. Now your next chance to get together
will be in January.
The Brat Fest is scheduled for January 25, 2022. We planned to meet at noon at Ellenton Hall. At press time we still
don’t know what the Covid protocols will be so we have to be flexible. If we’re unable to do the cooking and serving,
our next option is to go to a local restaurant. This worked well for the November Pot Luck; those who attended enjoyed
our late lunch at Hungry Howie’s.
Two trips have been scheduled. The first is to the Ringling Museum in Sarasota on March 8. The second is to Central
Avenue in St. Pete on April 5. The Cove “Fun Bus” will provide transportation. Time and meeting location will be clarified
as we get closer to the trip dates.
The February Valentine’s luncheon at MTC is still not settled. The college has the same uncertainty with their culinary
program as we have here in the Cove. Update to follow.
The club is looking for new members. We’ve had a significant number who have not returned for one reason or
another. Members are not all from just Minnesota or Wisconsin, but they all are friendly and fun loving.

Singles Club
The Singles Club meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 1:00 pm in
Friendship Hall. If you would like to join, please come to one of our meetings. Club dues 301 CruiserS
are only $5 per year. We have pot lucks, bus trips, monthly dinners and other scheduled

February 6 is the Super Bowl Party, we will also have a brief meeting before the Party!
We are having election of Officers for 2022! Anyone who is interested in running for
office please let us know! The Candidates at this time are Richard Chaney for President /
Lisa Dockery for 1st Vice President / Freddie Rosselli for 2nd Vice President / Dave Connolly
for Treasurer. There is no one running to fill the Secretaries Position. Hopefully our rules
committee will have some rules to vote on.
I would like to take this time to say what a pleasure it has been this past year. We were

We meet the first and third Wednesday of the month at Manatee Hall.
Doors open at 6PM and the games start at 6:30PM. We play 3 games of The New England Club
10 questions, at the end of each game scores are added up, after the

$10 per person for the year, a great bargain and a whole lot of fun!
Please join us for Coffee Social at Ellenton Hall every Saturday morning from 8-10 AM
for more information on many community events. The doors open at 7:30 AM with coffee
and donuts served until 9:30 AM. The meeting will start promptly at 8:45 AM. Arrive early
to meet your neighbors, learn about upcoming events, and to purchase your tickets for
future events and the 50/50. All Colony Cove clubs are invited to provide updates on their
club activities and to sell their event tickets at FSC Saturday morning coffee.
As a reminder, ticket sales for FSC events begin 6 weeks preceding the event. During
the off-season events May – September there is no requirement for you to be a member of
the Friendly Social Club to purchase tickets, but the ELS requirement of only residents’
attend is still in place for all FSC events. Once October events hit with the return of many
of our part time residents, the requirement/rule returns that during the first four weeks
of sales, tickets are available only for FSC members. Each person can only purchase a
maximum of one table of (6) tickets for now.
The Community Sales are held the second Monday of every month October through

With the new year we are resuming our regular second and fourth Sunday schedule for the rest of the season. So the January dates are the 9th and 23rd. Come on down to Friendship Hall from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. Bring your friends and neighbors for a fun night. We enjoy singers, musicians, story tellers, magicians or any other sort of entertainment you come up with. Many folks just watch their fellow Colony Covers performing while devouring their own snacks and drinks. We also have a 50/50 raffle to defray replacement cost for some missing equipment and expenses with plans to donate any “profits” beyond that to our own “Helping Hands” group. Special thanks to Geneva Maloney for her generous donation to our equipment fund. We do follow all Colony Cove health guide lines and sanitize our mikes between performers. COLONY COVE SOUTH SERVICE CLUB
One of the many services we provide is our Cancer Fund. It is
for residents here in Colony Cove that are battling Cancer. We
raise money in several ways, our main income has been from
the sale of Cancer bracelets.
When we have a name of a resident, we happily send them
a check and a note to let them know that we care and would
like to brighten their day. We also offer them a care bag with
items to take to their Chemotherapy or radiation visits. Please
let us know if you know a resident that we can reach out to.

Mission Statement for
Colony Cove South Service Club
We are a volunteer group gathering to promote friendship, to share ideas and to help
those in need.
We have projects that will benefit other such as making nursing home favors for holiday
celebrations. We make and sell Cancer Bracelets; the proceeds go to Residents of Colony
Cove who are struggling with Cancer. We make preemie hats, scarves, and hats for the
homeless, Baby items for the Maternity home. We make adult bibs, walker bags and lap
robes.
We also learn new crafts from our members.
These activities and many more keep us busy on Monday mornings at Bayshore 9 AM

1/3 cup packed almond paste 1 lb bulk Italian sausage
1/4 cup butter, softened 2 (10 3/4 oz) cans condensed cream of potato soup
1 cup plus 5 tbsp sugar, divided 9 eggs
1/3 cup shortening 3/4 cup milk
6 egg yolks 1/4 tsp pepper
1/2 cup milk 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
2 cups cake flour In a skillet,crown sausage over medium heat until no

Pesto Vegetables
1 package (16 ounces) frozen broccoli, carrots and cauliflower
1/3 cup basil pesto
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
Cook and drain vegetables as directed on package. Toss vegetables and pesto. Sprinkle
with cheese.
Hot Chocolate Malt Mix
25-oz. pkg. powdered milk
16-oz. jar powdered non-dairy creamer
16-oz. jar hot chocolate mix
13-oz. jar malted milk powder
1 cup powdered sugar
1 t. vanilla powder
2 c. mini marshmallows
Use a wire whisk to combine all ingredients. Equally divide mix into 4 plastic zipping
bags and attach instructions to each. Makes about 13 cups.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Place 3 tablespoons mix into a mug. Add one cup boiling water; stir well. Makes one
