TranzScript January 2020 Welcome Howdy y’all and Happy New Year! The Texan and the tours team enjoyed an amazing holiday season. For the first time ever, we closed the office over the holidays, giving us a chance to join family and friends on a longer than usual Christmas break. Even Kath and Craig, who took our annual Christmas tour on the road, managed to have some time off on their return. I ventured to Melbourne for “the cricket”, and while hubby enjoyed the NZ Test, I hit my own century in shopping, food and cocktails! Ali headed south to visit her mum, Zoe ventured out on day trips all over the place and Kath quadrupled her husband’s TO-DO list after some quality family time at home. Before I headed over the ditch, I celebrated a few family milestones in Wellington with a son turning 21 and another son graduating college! In Wellington I managed to get to the Alice In Wonderland exhibition at Te Papa. If you haven’t booked on this Travel Club day trip, be sure you do. The interactive, magical tea party with the Mad Hatter was my favourite part. Now that we are all back in the office you can see the steam coming off our keyboards as we pump out tours. Some of our favourites come back with new attractions and we have a range of NEW tours to make your eyes sparkle. From walking tours to foodie forays and more internationals than ever before, it is going to be an exciting year of travel and adventure…be sure you don’t miss out! Looking forward to travelling with you soon! Laura and the Tours Team New Zealand’s Senior Travel Club

Overseas Experiences in 2020 Australia’s bush fires Our Trans-Tasman friends are experiencing unprecedented bushfires across the country, fuelled by record-breaking temperatures and months of severe drought. We have all been touched by this devastation - to land, homes, people, and animals. The beauty of the Australian environment though, is that it quickly regenerates, and it will soon be showing signs of regrowth. This does not take away from the devastating situation but it does give hope to the residents and business owners in the affected areas. We are keen to continue to support Australian tourism and help them to rebuild. Melbourne - cancelled Sadly we did not reach our minimum number for this tour to go ahead. Open Plains and Big Sky Country Regrettably the pieces of the puzzle refused to fit, and we could not get workable flights for this tour. With The Wairarapa Escape and The Greenstone Trail well and truly unpacked, I am heading away in the next few weeks to Great Barrier Island - a bucket list for me! I have been enjoying getting out of the office and spending time with our Travel Club members. What better way to truly understand what makes our tours so special. Some tour highlights for me were traversing the Castlepoint station road, a journey not everyone gets to do, discovering a magical spot at Mokihinui on the West Coast and meeting wonderful people. It’s pretty cool how travel can bond you. Looking forward to travelling with you soon - Laura
