             Welcome to the northern Alps! This is the Tour de France's f avorite mountain range, with historic climbs like Galibier,
             Télégraphe, Alpe d'Huez and so many more. Af ter a two- hour private shuttle f rom Grenoble to the heart of the Alps,
             you'll arrive in the charming mountain village of Monêt ier- les- Bains. Enjoy a satisf ying lunch and prof essional bike t on
             your award- winning Trek Domane bef ore setting out f or our f irst stunning ride along the valley of Serre- Chevalier
             shrouded by soaring peaks. We're on our way to the Col du Granon which at 7,917 f t, hosted the highest ever mountain-
             top stage f inish in the Tour de France—once only—in 1986 until 2011 when the race f inished on top of the Col du

      You'll rise early today to beat the peloton and f or an unf orgettable “King/Queen of the Mountain” challenge as you
      tackle some of the Alps’ most celebrated passes just a f ew hours bef ore the peloton. Up f irst is the lof ty Col du
      Lautaret which is sure to get your heart pounding. If the road is still open, churn up nearly 8,600 f eet above sea level as
      you top the daunting Col du Galibier. Words can’t do justice to the scene, as hundreds of people line the roads to see
      climbers in action today on the f inal climb of stage 18. First f eatured in the Tour in 1911, the Col du Galibier is among
      the highest peaks in the northern Alps, and along the way, you can pick out a small monument to cycling's great climber,
      Marco Pantani. Trek Travel has selected a perf ect roadside viewing location f or you to witness the pro’s f ly past,
      charging on towards the f inish line in Valloire. Enjoy a delicious alpine lunch and watch the oncoming race on TV. As the
      caravan approaches, join the locals on the roadside to catch some swag and relish in this once- in- a- lif etime opportunity
      to be where die- hard f ans have camped out f or days waiting to cheer on the peloton. Once the race has passed, we'll
      descend back to Le Monêt ier- les- Bains and walk into town to enjoy dinner at a local bistro. Fuel up tonight and be ready

      Af ter a hearty breakf ast, today's ride begins with the ascent of Col du Lautaret, f ollowed by a long descent down the
      valley to the base of the mythic Alpe d’Huez. The morning mountain air will surely be the perf ect temperature to ride up
      the legendary 21 switchbacks. Every switchback is named af ter a winner of this climb in the Tour de France, each baiting
      you to ride to the next. With an average grade of 8%, this lion of a climb will grab and hold all your attention. Af ter
      ascending to the summit of this historic pass, linger at the top and bask in the af terglow of your conquest over lunch
      and savor the astounding views, the support and good cheer of your Trek Travel guides, and acknowledge that you’ve
      just mastered one of cycling’s most f abled roads. If this isn’t enough f or you, continue up the mountain to attack the
      Col de Sarenne. Known as “the B- side of Alpe d’Huez,” this quiet road is popular with locals as an understated, less-
      traveled and equally dif f icult challenge. This af ternoon sit back and rest your legs as you watch the scenery change on a
      3- hour shuttle into the Tarentaise Valley and to Val Thorens, the highest ski resort in Europe and the destination of
