If you are interested in helping an adult learn English, you will want to attend Literacy Volunteers Fox
Valley’s free tutor training workshop. It will be held from 6:30-9:00 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays,
January 10, 12, 17, and 19 at the St. Charles Public Library.
Literacy Volunteers Fox Valley helps adults communicate in English by matching them with trained
volunteer tutors who provide in-person or virtual lessons once each week. Currently, there are 20 adults
who are waiting to learn.
Volunteers do not need teaching experience or a second language to be successful. The program provides

The Sanctuary Course for Catholics is an eight-part
course for small groups designed to raise awareness
and start conversations in local parishes regarding
mental health. It was created in collaboration with
Catholic mental health professionals, theologians and
clergy, and offers faith communities the opportunity
to learn about mental health and grow in their ability
to support members living with mental health
challenges. Topics covered include: mental health and
mental illness, stigma, recovery, companionship, self-
care and community. The sessions are accompanied
by compelling films that feature the stories of
Catholics living with mental health challenges, along
with the insights of archbishops, theologians and
psychologists.
Catholic Charities invites you to join in viewing and
discussing The Sanctuary Course of Catholics. We will
view the films together followed by group discussion.
All are welcome!
The course will begin Tuesday, January 3rd at Noon
and run for 8 consecutives weeks using Microsoft
