The world’s leading trade fair for furniture production and interior design
Since its first event more than 60 years ago, interzum has continuously aimed to
be the most relevant place in the world for the design of tomorrow’s living spaces.
Innovations, change and the focus on customer needs are thus at the core of plan-
ning and thinking – not only for the participants and visitors at interzum, but for
interzum @home itself.
With the event in May 2021, interzum will become a fully digital trade fair for the
first time and permanently. The new digital platform of interzum, interzum @home,
enables partners to enrich their international reach combined with a successful
digital trade fair experience, individually tailored to your needs. This means that EVOline One
even more international decision-makers, opinion leaders and multipliers can be Socket system for power
and connectivity

Invitation to the interzum award: intelligent material & design 2021
The best products from the international supplier industry for furniture and interior
design are selected by an international jury for the interzum award: intelligent mate-
rial & design. Participation in the design competition, which Koelnmesse is hosting for
the 11th time in cooperation with Red Dot, is reserved exclusively for interzum @home
participants. The award emphasises the significance of design as a value-added
factor and is used by the winners as a relevant label to set themselves apart from
competitors in the broader market.
As a participant at interzum @home 2021, you are cordially invited to register your
products or the interzum award digitally and free of charge by 12 April 2021 and to
demonstrate your design skills with your product innovations. I wish you all the COMPACT-STYLE

Registration for the
interzum award 2021
Entry rules
Only participants of interzum @home 2021 are entitled to take part in the
interzum award: intelligent material & design 2021. There is no entry fee
and you can register as many products as you wish from industrial series
production. The products entered must be launched on the market by
4 May 2021, and at the same time their market launch cannot be more
than two years ago (3 May 2019).
Please send us a product description, pictures of your object and a link
of a video about the object - especially in the case of products requiring
explanation - as part of your registration by 12 April 2021 at the latest.

Please embed your product video in the public or non-public area of a
well-known video portal (e.g. Vimeo). The product video should be down-

Distinctions
All of the objects awarded in the interzum award are characterised by
high design quality and innovation. However, the jury can award two
different quality seals during the evaluation process - the “High Product
Quality” award and the “Best of the Best” award.
High Product Quality
The award “High Product Quality” in the interzum award is given to design
achievements that are special in terms of their form and function. The jury
only awards this prize to products that set themselves apart significantly
from comparable products thanks to their excellent design.
Best of the Best
Outstanding design achievements that set new standards for form and
function in their industry receive the distinction “Best of the Best” from the
jury. Only innovations that feature ground-breaking design receive this
top prize in the interzum award.

Online Award
Ceremony
It is not yet possible to foresee how the pandemic situation will develop in
2021. For reasons of planning security, the award ceremony will therefore
be held online for the first time this year.
On 4 May 2021, the day before the trade fair, all prize winners will be pres-
ented to the trade audience, media and interested members of the public
on the competition website.
The winners of the interzum award will
be celebrated with an online special for
the first time in 2021.

Honouring the „Best of the Best“ and “High Product Quality”
award winners
Manufacturers whose products or materials have been awarded the
“Best of the Best” or “High Product Quality” of the competition will be
presented at the online award ceremony. In short clips we present the
winning products as well as the successful companies behind them.
Please note:
We will send you your winner‘s package with the certificates for this
purpose shortly after you have been notified of your win. We would be
delighted if you celebrated your success with colleagues and staff and
captured this moment in a video. Please send us your celebration video in
good time (by 30 April 2021 at the latest) so that we can include it in one
of the above clips. There are no limits to your creativity as long as the
video meets the following requirements:

During the entire duration of the trade fair, products and materials that
have been awarded “Best of the Best“ or “High Product Quality” at the in-
terzum award 2021 will be presented on the show floor “interzum award“
at interzum @home 2021.
Permanent internet presentation
As a winner of the interzum award, you can look forward to the exhibition
of the award-winning products on the Internet:
On the website www.interzum.com/events-home/interzum-award/winners/
the online exhibition permanently presents the winning products in text
and pictures. This website is thus an research tool and a source of
inspiration for product developers, designers and architects from all over
the world who are looking for innovative innovative detail solutions and
materials.
During interzum @home 2021, trade visitors, the
media and interested members of the public can
find out about the new award winners.
Communication
Differentiation through design
Winning an interzum award: intelligent material & design sets you apart
from your competitors and attracts the attention of both the industry and
the media.
The winner label provides objective proof of the outstanding design quali-
ty of your award-winning products. You can use it as a PR and marketing
tool to give your products a high profile at the trade fair as well as on the
wider market. The industry prize ensures that your company will be con-
sistently associated with good design quality and highlights your power to
innovate.
Communicate your success to business partners and customers and
steer the interest of decision makers from industry, trade and the retail

Embargo
Please note that an embargo will be in place up to and including
27 April 2021 on communicating news of winning in the interzum award.
You may not communicate news of your success to the press and the
public until this date.

Established expertise
The contributions to the interzum award: intelligent material & design are assessed by
an expert jury. Six respected professionals from the fields of design, material science
and architecture assess the products’ design quality and make a final decision concern-
ing the industry award. Their experience and expertise ensure a fair assessment with
the highest degree of objectivity. This guarantees both the high-quality standard of
the competition and the reliability of the award.
