This microscope is a scientific precision instrument designed to last for many years with a minimum of main-
tenance. It is built to high optical and mechanical standards and to withstand daily use.
We remind you that this manual contains important information on safety and maintenance, and that it must
therefore be made accessible to the instrument users.
We decline any responsibility deriving from incorrect instrument use that does not comply with this manual.
Safety Information
Avoiding Electrical Shock
Before plugging in the power supply, make sure that the supplying voltage of your region matches with the
operation voltage of the equipment and that the lamp switch is in off position.
Users should observe all safety regulations of the region. The equipment has acquired the CE safety label.
However, users have full responsibility to use this equipment safely.
Please follow the guidelines below, and read this manual in its entirety to ensure safe operation of the unit.

Unpacking
The microscope is housed in a moulded Styrofoam container. Remove the tape from the edge of the contai-
ner and lift the top half of the container. Take some care to avoid that the optical items (objectives and eye-
pieces) fall out and get damaged. Using both hands (one around the arm and one around the base), lift the
microscope from the container and put it on a stable desk.
The objectives are located in individual protective vials. Remove the objectives from the vials and insert them
into the microscope nosepiece in the order from the lowest magnification to the highest, in a clockwise direc-
tion from the rear.
Insert the eyepieces into the eye tubes. Place the observation head onto the top of the arm and tighten the

lock-screw. If you have a trinocular microscope and want to use the photo port, insert your adaptor in the hole
on the top of the observation head and fixate it with the screw on the side

gnostic use.

Operation
Adjust the observation head
Loosen the lock-screw, turn the observation head to a comfortable position for observation, and then lock the
lock-screw.
Place the specimen on the stage
Lock the specimen slide on the mechanical stage using the slide holder. Ensure that the specimen is centred
over the stage opening by adjusting the coaxial stage control.
Illumination system settings
The microscope is fitted with a 3W high-efficiency white led source. Insert the plug of the cable into the power
socket and turn on the switch on the back of the main body. Turn the brightness adjustment knob to a bright-
ness suitable for observation.
6Adjust interpupillary distance
Hold the right and left parts of the observation head by both hands and adjust the interpupillary distance by
turning the two parts until one circle of light can be seen. After finishing the interpupillary adjustment, turn the
dioptric adjustment ring on the left eye tube to the “0” position at the graduation line on the eyetube.
Focus and diopter adjustment
Loosen the focus-stop knob, rotate the coarse focusing knob to bring the slide into focus with an objective
with a low magnification, and then lock the focus-stop knob. Adjust the fine focusing knob to get the image
sharp and clear while observing with your right eye, then turn the left dioptric adjustment ring to a sharp and
clear image also with the other eye. Turn the tension-adjust-knob to get a suitable tension for the focus sy-
stem. When the image is in focus, turn the nosepiece to choose the objective you need.
Condenser adjustment
Turn the condenser adjustment knob to move the condenser up or down for a clear and uniform sample illu-
mination. The two condenser centring screws can be used to centre the condenser.
Set the numerical aperture
Adjust the aperture of the iris diaphragm to set the numerical aperture of the illuminator, thus controlling ima-
ge contrast and resolution.
Field diaphragm
Adjust the field diaphragm to align the system and to control stray light.
Additional filters
The chromatic correction filter (blue) and the monochromator filter (green) can be inserted for definition of
specimen parts. The use of the green filter is recommended for phase contrast observations.
Using the polarizer (optional)
The polarizing set consists of two filters; the analyser and the polarizer. The analyser is placed in the analyser
holder and the polarizer on top of the illuminator.
Video capturing (optional)
Two kinds of observation heads, binocular (standard or ergonomic) or trinocular, are available for the this
series. Trinocular version has a dedicated photo-port, while binocular version can receive a camera in either
eyepiece tube, via a photo/video adaptor. Before taking a picture or filming video, if necessary, obscure with
a dark cloth both the camera viewfinder and the eyepieces and pull out the light path selector lever. Please
refer to the adaptor and camera manuals for further details
Using the phase contrast set (optional)
The phase contrast set has 4 objectives for phase contrast and one condenser, with 4
rings of phase, and one position for bright field. To use the phase contrast, remove the
abbe condenser of the microscope and replace it with the phase contrast condenser.
If, during use, the phase contrast diaphragm rings (anuli) are dislodged, they can be rea-
ligned rotating the alignment screws placed on two sides of each ring, using the enclosed
tools. In particular:
Select an objective corresponding to the ring to be realigned, and focus on a slide under
bright field illumination.
The selector of the condenser has 5selectable positions:
0 → To use when it is necessary to be used the instrument in bright field
10 → To use with 10x phase contrast objective
20 → To use with 20x phase contrast objective
40 → To use with 40x phase contrast objective
100 → To use with 100x phase contrast objective
Insert the phase ring to be realigned.
Remove an eyepiece, and replace it with the centring telescope.
7Focus the centring telescope, without touching the microscope focus, in order to focus the phase ring and
the phase plate simultaneously. In particular, the phase plate is visible as a dark ring, and the phase ring as
a bright ring divided into sectors.
Turning the two phase ring centring screws, position the phase ring (bright ring) so that it is completely con-
tained in the phase plate profile (dark ring). (See figure.)
Remove the telescope, and replace the eyepiece.
Dark field condenser (optional)
For dark field observation, the Abbe condenser in standard equipment must be replaced with a special con-
denser for dark field, showed in the picture.
Troubleshooting
Review the information in the table below to troubleshoot operating problems.

Repair and maintenance
Microscopy environment
This microscope is recommended for use in a clean, dry and shock free environment with a temperature of
0-40°C and a maximum relative humidity of 85 % (non condensing). Use a dehumidifier if needed.
After using the microscope
The microscope should always be kept vertical when moving it so that no moving parts, such as the
eyepieces, fall out.
Never mishandle or impose unnecessary force on the microscope.
Never attempt to service the microscope yourself.
After use, turn down the illumination intensity control and turn the light off. Cover the microscope with included
the dust cover, and keep it in a dry and clean place.
8Electrical safety precautions

However, users do have full responsibility to use this equipment safely.
Cleaning the optics
If the optical parts require cleaning first use compressed air.
If that is not sufficient use a soft lint-free cloth with water and a mild detergent.
And as a final option use the piece of cloth moistened with a 3:7 mixture of ethanol and ether.
Note: ethanol and ether are highly flammable liquids. Do not use them near a heat source, near sparks or
near electric equipment. Use these chemicals in a well ventilated room.
Remember to never wipe the surface of any optical items with your hands. Fingerprints can damage the op-
tics. Do not disassemble objectives or eyepieces in an attempt to clean them.
For the best results, use the VWR cleaning kit (see catalogue number below).
If you need to send the microscope to manufacturer for maintenance, please use the packaging if possible
packaging.

Warranty
VWR International warrants that this product will be free from defects in material and workmanship for a
period of five (5) years from date of delivery. If a defect is present, VWR will, at its option and cost, repair,
replace, or refund the purchase price of this product to the customer, provided it is returned during the war-
ranty period. This warranty does not apply if the product has been damaged by accident, abuse, misuse, or
misapplication, or from ordinary wear and tear. If the required maintenance and inspection services are not
performed according to the manuals and any local regulations, such warranty turns invalid, except to the ex-
tent, the defect of the product is not due to such non-performance.
Items being returned must be insured by the customer against possible damage or loss. This warranty shall
be limited to the aforementioned remedies. IT IS EXPRESSLY AGREED THAT THIS WARRANTY WILL BE
IN LIEU OF ALL WARRANTIES OF FITNESS AND IN LIEU OF THE WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY.
Compliance with local laws and regulations
The customer is responsible for applying for and obtaining the necessary regulatory approvals or other au-
thorizations necessary to run or use the Product in its local environment. VWR will not be held liable for any
related omission or for not obtaining the required approval or authorization, unless any refusal is due to a
defect of the product.
Disposal
This equipment is marked with the crossed out wheeled bin symbol to indicate that this equipment must not
be disposed of with unsorted waste.
Instead it is your responsibility to correctly dispose of your equipment the end of its life cycle by handling it
over to an authorized facility for separate collection and recycling. It is also your responsibility to decontami-
nate the equipment in case of biological, chemical and/or radiological contamination, so as to protect from
health hazards the persons involved in the disposal and recycling of the equipment.
For more information about where you can drop off your waste equipment, please contact your local dealer
from whom you originally purchased this equipment.
By doing so, you will help to conserve natural and environmental resources and you will ensure that your
equipment is recycled in a manner that protects human health.

doit être accessible à tous ceux qui utilisent cet insrument.

Précautions de sécurité sur le système électrique
Avant de connecter le câble d’alimentation au réseau électrique assurez vous que la tension d’entrée soit
compatible avec celle de l’appareil et que l’interrupteur de l’éclairage soit en position arrêt.
L’utilisateur devra consulter les normes de sécurités de son pays. L’appareil inclu une étiquette de sécurité

Deballage
Le microscope est livré dans un emballage en polystyrène. Après avoir enlevé le papier adhésif de l’emballa-
ge, enlevez la partie supérieure de l’emballage. Faites attention à ce que les composants optiques (objectifs
et oculaires) ne tombent pas ou ne s’endommagent pas. Sortez le microscope de son emballage et posez le
sur une superficie stable et plate.
Les objectifs sont confectionnés singulièrement dans des fioles de protection, il faut les enlever et les insérer
sur le revolver porte objectifs en partant de la partie postérieure et suivant le sens horaire, dans l’ordre de
grossissement du plus petit au plus grand.
15Insérer les oculaires dans les tubes porte oculaires de la tête. Fixer la tête d’observation sur la partie supérieu-
re du bras en utilisant la vis appropriée. Pour utiliser la porte-photo pour l’acquisition d’image/photo présente
sur le modèle trinoculaire, il faut insérer l’adaptateur dans l’ouverture qui se trouve sur la partie supérieure
de la tête d’observation.

Utilisation
Réglage de la tête d’observation
Orienter la tête dans une position d’observation confortable avant de serrer la vis.
Positionnement de la préparation sur la platine porte préparation
Fixer la lame de la préparation sur la platine à l’aide de la pincette appropriée. En agissant sur les les poi-
gnées coaxiales se trouvant sur un côté de la platine, s’assurer que la lame de la préparation se trouve au
centre du champ d’observation.
Réglage de la lumière
Le microscope est doté d’un éclairage à LED blanche 3W à haut rendement. Insérer la prise de courant dans
la douille d’alimentation et appuyer sur le bouton de mise en fonctionnement placé sur la partie postérieure du
statif . Utiliser la commande de réglage de la luminosité pour obtenir une luminosité adaptée à l’observation.
Réglage de la distance interpupillare
Tenez avec les deux mains les parties gauche et droite de la tête d’observation et réglez la distance inter-
pupillaire des tubes porte oculaires en tournant les deux parties jusqu’à l’observation d’un seul et unique
cercle lumineux. Le point blanc(°) sur l’oculaire droit indique la distance interpupillaire choisie. Rappelez vous
de cette valeure pour la prochaine utilisation.
18Réglage de la mise au point et réglage dioptrique
Enlever les vis qui fixent la commande d’ouverture de la mise au point,tourner la commande de mise au point
macrométrique pour la mise au point de la préparation avec l’objectif de faible grossissement , donc bloquer
de nouveau la commande . En observant avec l’oeil droit, régler la commande de mise au point micrométri-
que pour obtenir une image claire et définie ,répéter donc la même opération avec l’anneau de compensation
dioptrique gauche et l’oeil gauche. En agissant sur la commande de régulation de la tension, régler la tension
adaptée à la mise au point. Lorsque la mise au point de l’image sera effectuée, choisir l’objectif désiré sur le
revolver porte objectifs.
Réglage du condenseur
Montez ou descendez le condenseur en utilisant la commande correspondante afin d’obtenir un éclairage
clair et uniforme de l’objet. Utiliser les vis de centrage pour le centrage du condenseur.
Réglage de l’Ouverture Numérique
Régler l’ouverture du diaphragme à iris pour établir l’ouverture numérique de l’illuminateur , contrôlant ainsi
contraste et résolution de l’image.
Diaphragme de champ
Régler le diaphragme de champ pour aligner le système et contrôler la lumière diffuse.
Filtres additionnels
Dans le porte filtres on peut insérer le filtre de correction chromatique (bleu) et le filtre monochromatique
(vert) utiles pour la définition des détails de l’échantillon. Il est conseillé d’utiliser le filtre vert pour les obser-
vations en contraste de phase.
Utilisation du polarisant (facultatif)
Le kit de polarisation est composé de deux filtres: l’analyseur et le polariseur. L’analyseur se trouve dans son
support, tandis que le polariseur au dessus de l’illuminateur.
Acquisition vidéo/photo (facultative)
La série est disponible en deux versions, en tête d’observation binoculaire (standard ou ergonomique) ou
bien trinoculaire. La version trinoculaire est dôtée de tube photo-vidéo et la version binoculaire peut être re-
liée à une télé caméra en utilisant un adaptateur photo/vidéo. Avant de prendre une photo ou d’enregistrer
une vidéo, couvrir avec un pan obscur aussi bien l’objectif de la télé caméra/appareil photographique que
les oculaires, et détacher le levier de sélection du parcours optique. Consulter notre manuel compatibilité
système d’acquisition d’image et adaptateurs pour les détails.
Utilisation du dispositif de contraste de phase (facultatif)
Ce dispositif contient 4 objectifs pour contraste de phase et un condenseur, 4 anneaux de phase, mais aussi
une position pour fond clair; pour utiliser le dispositif, il faut enlever le condenseur d’ Abbe
présent sur le microscope et le substituer par le condenseur approprié.
Lorsque les diaphragmes (facultatifs) de contraste de phase (les anneaux) sortent de
leur siège au moment de l’utilisation, il est possible de les rapporter dans leur position
originaire en agissant sur les vis d’alignement disposées sur les deux côtés de chaque
diaphragme en plus des outils appropriés fournis en dotation. En particulier:
Sélectionner un objectif correspondant à l’anneau à réaligner, et focaliser la lame en
champ clair.
Il est possible d’en choisir une des 5positions du condenseur:
0 → quand il est nécessaire d’utiliser le fond clair
10→ avec objectif de contraste de phase 10x
20→ avec objectif de contraste de phase 20x
40→ avec objectif de contraste de phase 40x
100 → avec objectif de contraste de phase 100x
Insérer le diaphragme de phase à réaligner.
Substituer un oculaire avec le télescope de centrage.
19Effectuer la mise au point du télescope de centrage sans toucher à la mise au point du microscope pour pou-
voir mettre au point simultanément le diaphragme et le plateau de contraste de phase. Le plateau doit être
vu comme un disque obscur tandis que le diaphragme comme un disque clair divisé en secteurs.
Agissant sur les deux vis de centrage de l’anneau de phase, placer le diaphragme de phase (clair) de sorte
qu’il soit complètement à l’intérieur du profil du plateau de contraste de phase (anneau obscur); voir figure.
Enlever le télescope et rétablir l’oculaire.

Environnement de travail
Il est conseillé d’utiliser le microscope dans un environnement propre et sec, protégé des
impactes, à une température comprise entre 0°C y 40°C et avec une humidité relative maximale de 85% (en
absence de condensation). Il est conseillé d’utiliser un déshumidificateur si nécessaire.
Conseils avant et après l’utilisation du microscope
- Maintenir le microscope toujours en position verticale lorsque vous le déplacez. Assurez vous que les
pièces mobiles (oculaires) ne tombent pas.
- Manipulez avec attention le microscope en évitant de le forcer.
- Ne réparez pas le microscope vous même
- Éteindre immédiatement la lumière après avoir utilisé le microscope, couvrez le avec la housse prévue à cet
effet et conservez le dans un endroit propre et sec.

Nettoyage des optiques
Si vous souhaitez nettoyer les optiques, utilisez dans un premier temps de l’air comprimé Si cela n’est pas
suffisant, utilisez alors un chiffon non effiloché, humidifié avec un peu d’eau et avec un détergent délicat.
Comme dernière option, il est possible d’utiliser un chiffon humide avec une solution de 3:7 d’éthanol et d’é-
ther. Attention: l’éthanol et l’éther sont des substances hautement inflammables.
Ne les utilisez pas près d’une source de chaleur, d’étincelles ou d’appareils électriques.
Les substances chimiques doivent être utilisées dans un environnement aéré Ne pas frotter la superficie
d’aucun des composants optiques avec les mains. Les empreintes digitales peuvent endommager les parties
optiques. Ne démontez pas les objectifs ou les oculaires pour essayer de les nettoyer.
Pour les meilleurs résultats, utiliser le kit de nettoyage (code ci-dessous).
Conserver l’emballage d’origine dans le cas où il serait nécessaire de retourner le microscope au
fournisseur pour un entretien ou une réparation.

Elektrische Vorsichtsmaßnahmen
Bevor Sie das Netzkabel anstecken, vergewissern Sie sich, dass die Spannung für das Mikroskop
geeignet ist und dass der Beleuchtungsschalter sich in Position OFF befindet.
Beachten Sie alle Sicherheitsvorschriften des Arbeitsplatzes, an dem Sie mit dem Mikroskop arbeiten. Das
Gerät entspricht den CE-Normen. Die Benutzer tragen während der Nutzung des Geräts die volle Verantwor-
tung dafür.

AUSPACKEN
Das Mikroskop befindet sich in einer Polystyrolverpackung. Nehmen Sie das Klebeband von der
Verpackung ab und heben Sie dann den oberen Teil der Verpackung. Bitte beachten Sie dabei, dass
die optischen Komponenten (Objektive, Okulare) nicht beschädigt werden oder fallen. Halten Sie das
Mikroskop mit beiden Händen (eine rund um das Stativ und eine um den Fuß), ziehen Sie es aus der
Verpackung raus und stellen sie es auf eine flache, stabile Oberfläche.
Jedes Objektiv befindet sich in einer Schutzhülse. Nehmen Sie die Objektive aus den Hülsen heraus und
setzen Sie sie in den Revolver, im Uhrzeigersinn von hinten, von der kleinsten bis zur höchsten Vergrößerung
ein.
27Setzen Sie die Okulare in den Tuben ein. Befestigen Sie den Kopf auf dem oberen Teil des Armes dank der
Befestigungsschraube. Falls man den dritten Tubus für Foto/Videoaufnahme verwendet (bei trinokularen
Geräten), setzen Sie den Tubus in der Öffnung auf dem oberen Teil vom Kopf.
