Information Brochure for B.Sc./M.Sc. programme in Medical Technology AN OVERVIEW Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) Lucknow is a University established under an Act of the Legislature of the State of Uttar Pradesh in 1983. The Institute is located on a 550-acre residential campus on Rae Bareli Road of Lucknow. The Institute is rated among the top medical institutions in the country. A highly skilled and dedicated faculty provides quality education and state-of-art patient care, and is involved in research that strives to meet the needs of the society. The Institute awards DM, MCh and MD degrees that are recognized by the Medical Council of India. It also offers PhD program, Post- Doctoral Fellowship (PDF), Post-Doctoral Certificate Course (PDCC), and Senior Residency in a number of specialties. For para-medical training Institute has started B.Sc. (Nursing) and B.Sc./M.Sc. courses in Medical Technology in different super-specialitysubjects. Detailed advertisement based on the number of vacancies available in each course are put on Institute‟s website www.sgpgi.ac.in.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA • Nationality: Only bonafide Indian nationals are eligible to apply. However few seats are reserved for foreign nationals as detailed in theadvertisement. • Qualifications: Candidates must possess requisite qualifications as mentione below for admission to the course. Essential qualifications for each program are given separately in detailhereunder: ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION: SPECIALITY ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION M.Sc. Courses M.Sc. Medical Laboratory A pass in B.Sc. MLT course from recognized University securing Technology (Transfusion minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. Further 5% relaxation is permitted Medicine) to reserved category candidate having domicile of Uttar Pradesh. For sponsored candidatesB.Sc. with 05 years experience of working in Transfusion Medicine/Blood Bank from Government/accredited institute. Candidates passing B.Sc. MLT through correspondence course shall not be eligible. Applicant should be able to communicate well verbally in English. M.Sc. Medical Bio-technology A pass in B.Sc. (Botany/Zoology.Chemistry/Microbiology/Biotechnology/ (Hematology) Biochemistry) or any equivalent degree in Life Sciences from recognized University securing minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. Further 5% relaxation is permitted to reserved category candidate having domicile of Uttar Pradesh. For sponsored candidates B.Sc. in given subjects with 05 years experience of working in the respective department of Government Institution is required. Candidates passing B.Sc. through correspondence course shall not be eligible. Applicant should be able to communicate well verbally in English. M.Sc. Medical Laboratory A pass in B.Sc. (Medical Laboratory Technology) or B.Sc. (Microbiology) Technology (Medical or any equivalent degree from a recognized University securing minimum Virology) of 50% marks in aggregate with laboratory experience. Further 5% relaxation is permitted to reserved category candidate having domicile of Uttar Pradesh. For sponsored candidates B.Sc. in given subjects with 05 years experience of working in Government or reputed Institution is required. Candidates passing B.Sc. through correspondence course shall not be eligible. Applicant should be able to communicate well verbally in English. OR

Perfusion Technology A Pass in Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination/Intermediate (10+2) or its equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry & Biology securing pass with minimum of 45% marks in aggregate from a recognized Board. Further 5% relaxation is permitted to reserved category candidates having domicile of Uttar Pradesh. Applicant should be able to communicate well verbally inEnglish. • Age: Minimum age for admission to B.Sc. courses shall be 17 years and maximum age shall be 25 years as prescribed in the advertisement for admission to the course. Age relaxation to reserved category and sponsored candidates will be as per U.P. State Government rules and domicile of U.P.only. • The maximum age for admission to M.Sc. courses shall be 30 years as prescribed in the advertisement for admission to the course. Age relaxation to reserved category and sponsored candidates will be as per U.P. State Government rules and domicile of U.P.only. • Reservation: Reservation will apply as per U.P. Government rules for candidates having domicile of Uttar Pradesh only. Reserved category candidates having domicile other than Uttar Pradesh will be treated as General category candidates for allpurposes. • Reserved category candidates should produce authentic certificate of their category, issued by a competentauthority. • Sponsored Candidates: Certain seats are earmarked for candidates sponsored by Central/State Government Organizations, Universities and Defense services, subject to the following conditions.
(a) Sponsored candidate will have to forward their application through Government of U.P., Medical Education Department. Sponsored candidate will not be given any relaxation in duration of course, practical training, pattern of examination and payment of prescribed feeetc. (b) Relaxation in age will be as per U.P. Governmentrules. (c) SGPGI will not pay any stipend during the entire training period as well as during internship to the sponsoredcandidates (d) The candidate should provide a certificate from the Government of U.P./sponsoring authority statingthat: (i) The candidate is a permanent employee of the sponsoringorganization. (ii) She/he will be granted leave for total duration of the course includinginternship. (iii) The candidate after completing the course will be suitably employed by the sponsoring organization to work in the specialty in which the training isprovided. (iv) The sponsoring authority shall be responsible for payment of salary or any other emoluments to the candidate during the period oftraining. (e) Sponsorship certificate should be attached with the application form, failing which the sponsorship will not beentertained. • HOW TO APPLY: • Information brochure & Applicationform: The application form along within formation brochure can be downloaded from the Institute’s website http://www.sgpgi.ac.in . The candidate should read the instructions very carefully before filling up the form. The candidates will have to fill up the APPLICATION FORM ONLINE. After online submission, a print out of filled-in application form MUST be taken and sent to Nodal Officer, College of Technology & Allied Health Sciences, SGPGIMS, Rae Bareli Road, Lucknow - 226014 along with all relevant documents in support of age, qualification, experience, reservation and sponsorship etc. and duly signed by the candidate. The last date of receiving of completed application forms along with necessary enclosures is 20th October,2020 Candidature will be accepted only of those who will apply through online and also send a hard copy at the above mentioned address of theInstitute. • APPLICATIONFEE: • The candidate will be required to pay a sum of Rs.1000/- as application fees online before filling up the form to Director, SGPGIMS, Lucknow Academic Account, payable at SBI, SGPGI Branch, (Code No. 7789), Lucknow, which isnon-refundable. • CHECKLIST: Please complete and arrange your application in the following order and firmly tag before dispatch to the Institute. (a) Proof of payment of fees -online.
(b) Print out of the online application form along with Identification cum Attendance card with your signature at specified places and paste self certified passport size recent colored photograph at the appropriateplaces (c) A self-certified copy of matriculation certificate/age proofcertificate. (d) A self-certified copy of Intermediate (10+2) passingcertificate. (e) A self-certified copy of Graduation passing certificate (for M.Sc. coursesonly) (f) A self-certified Caste certificate from the competent authority (ifapplicable). (g) Sponsorship certificate from the employer (ifapplicable) (h) If employed, candidate must ensure that employer’s signature is available at prescribed place of the applicationform (i) Please use your correct email-id and password while filling your online application form. It is your responsibility to remember your email-id and password. No telephonic /personal request, in this regard, will beentertained. (j) Subject code is provided in Appendix I and State code in AppendixII. (k) Application fee once paid is not refundable either in full or in part under anycircumstances. • HOW TO KNOW YOURELIGIBILITY: • Eligibility status of each applicant will be placed on the Institute’s website on prescribed date. • HOW TO GET YOUR ADMIT CARD: • Eligible candidates can print their Admit Card ONLINEfor appearing in the entrance examination between prescribed dates using their email id, password and registration number written on right corner of applicationform • HOW TO KNOW YOURRESULT: • The list of eligible candidates called for counseling will be displayed on the Institute Notice Board as well as on Institute’swebsite. • The final result of entrance exam will be available on the Institute website / Institute notice boards within one week of the entrance exam. • IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS: A candidate can opt for only one program. No change in course after admission will be allowed under any circumstances. The completed Application Form and Identification- cum- Attendance Card along with relevant certificates should reach the destination on or before the last date as specified in the advertisement. Incomplete applications or applications received after due date shall not be considered and no communication in this regard shall be entertained. However no additional document or information other than submitted in the original application form will be considered for review. Request for review in any case will not be considered beyond the specified dates as above. Candidates in employment must get their applications forwarded through proper channel. (b) The selection of candidate should be strictly on the basis of merit of the student in the entrance examination held by theInstitute. (c) The entrance examination of the Institute will be conducted in English languageonly. (d) The scheme of entrance examination for B.Sc. courses will be as under: (i) For admission to B.Sc. course there will be one paper of two hours duration and consisting of five parts containing objective type multiple choice questions in the followingsubjects: PART SUBJECT MARKS A PHYSICS 20 B CHEMISTRY 20 C BIOLOGY 20 D MATHEMATICS 20 E GENERAL KNOWLEDGE 10 F ENGLISH 10 (ii) The general standard of each entrance examination will that of 12th class under the 10+2 scheme or an equivalent examination of an Indian Board/ University. No syllabus for entrance examination has been prescribed by theInstitute. (iii) In case of two or more candidate belonging to the same category obtaining equal marks in the entrance examination, there merit will be determined in order of preference as under: (a) Candidate older in age shall bepreferred. (b) Candidate obtaining higher marks in Biology in the entranceexamination. (c) Candidate obtaining higher marks in Intermediate (10+2) biology subject shall be placed higher inmerit. (e) Qualifyingmarks Candidates are required to obtain minimum 50% marks in entrance examination to qualify for admission to the B.Sc. courses.
2. Admissions to various M.Sc.courses (a) Admissions to various M.Sc. courses are to be made through entrance examination conducted by the Institute comprising of 100 MCQs on an all India entrance examination basis. Detailed advertisement based on the number of vacancies available in each course are put on Institute’s websitewww.sgpgi.ac.in. (b) The selection of candidate should be strictly on the basis of merit of the student in the entrance examination held by theInstitute. (c) The entrance examination of the Institute will be conducted in English languageonly. (d) The scheme of entrance examination for M.Sc. courses will be as under: (i) There will be one paper of two hours duration consisting of 100 multiple choicequestions. (ii) The general standard of entrance examination will be that of B.Sc. or equivalent examination of an IndianUniversity. (iii) No specific syllabus for entrance examination has been prescribed by the Institute. (iv) In case of two or more candidates belonging to the same category obtaining equal marks in the entrance examination, there merit will be determined in order of preference as under: (a) Candidate obtaining higher marks in qualifying examination i.e. B.Sc. (Botany/Zoology/Chemistry/Microbiology/Bio-technology/Biochemistry/ MLT) shall bepreferred. (b) Candidate older in age shall bepreferred. (v) The candidate should secure a minimum 50% marks in entranceexamination. (e) Qualifyingmarks Candidates are required to obtain minimum 50% marks in entrance examination for admission to M.Sc. courses. • MEDICAL EXAMINATION: No candidate will be permitted to join a course, unless declared medically fit by the Medical Board constituted by the Institute for the purpose. The decision of the Board shall be final. • JOINING: If a candidate fails to join the course by the date stipulated in the selection letter, the offer shall automatically stand cancelled and the seat will be offered to candidates in the waiting list in order of merit. At the time of joining, the selected candidates shall have to submit their original Matriculation certificate, Intermediate (10+2) passing certificate, caste & domicile certificate in case of reserved category candidate, Migration Certificate and relieving certificate in case of sponsored candidates, and certificate of good conduct by two gazetteofficers. • FEE: Each student will have to pay the following fees inclusive of tuition, library, laboratory, examination fees, etc.

Fees for the first installment will be payable at the time of joining, 2nd instalment in January and that for subsequent years in July & January or within 15 days from start of session/ semester. The candidates will not be permitted to join the session/course without payment of the requisite fee. Fee for the first installment will be payable at the time of counselling and that for subsequent years within 15 days from start of session/semester. The candidates will not be permitted to join without payment of the requisite fee. • DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES: Students admitted to the courses shall be required to perform such work as may be assigned to them and are necessary in the legitimate interest of patient care, teaching, training, research and in Emergency services as and when required. • DURATION OF THE COURSE: Duration of B.Sc. courses is of 03 years followed by one year compulsory internship. Bachelor of Physiotherapy course is of four years followed by six months compulsory internshipduration. Duration of M.Sc. courses is of 02 years followed by six months compulsory internship. • SALARY: No salary will be paid during the course. However students will be paid stipend during the period of internship as decided by the Institute from time to time subject to approval by the Government of U.P. • HOSTELACCOMMODATION: Students will be provided hostel facility within the campus subject to availability of the rooms. They are provided semi-furnished hostel as per policy of the Institute. • LEAVEENTITLEMENT: The students will be entitled for following leaves : 1. Winter Break : 07 days inDecember 2. Summer Break : 21 days inJune 3. Other leaves : subject to achieving 80% attendance in theory classes and practical individually which is essential to be allowed to appear in the annual examination. Deficiency in attendance, if any, to be made up in thevacations. • LEAVING THECOURSE: Candidates selected for courses will have to execute a bond at the time of joining. As per terms & conditions of the bond, if a candidate discontinues the course without completion, he/she will have to pay a sum of Rs. 2.50 lacs (Rupees two lacs fifty thousand only) to theInstitute.
• GENERALINSTRUCTIONS: ❖ The date, time and venue of examination will be provided on admitcard. ❖ No TA/DA shall be paid for appearing in the entrance examination or forjoining. ❖ Number of seats/posts indicated in the advertisement against various programs is provisional and subject to change without priornotice. ❖ Any attempt on the part of a candidate to suppress facts, provide false information or influence selection directly or indirectly will be treated as a disqualification, and if selected, the services are liable to beterminated. ❖ Each selected candidate shall have to pay the fee/dues within the prescribed period, failing which his/her admission/appointment shall becancelled. ❖ The selected candidates shall submit photocopies of date of birth certificate, certificates of educational qualification, experience and relieving (in case of sponsored candidate) and good conduct certificate from the University/Institution last attended at the time of joining. ❖ The training programs are full-time and continuous, and private practice in any form after joining the Institute is strictlyprohibited. ❖ All students admitted to the Institute shall maintain good conduct, attend their classes regularly and abide by the regulations/guidelines of the Institute failing which their names are liable to be struck off the rolls of theInstitute. ❖ Participation in any agitation, protest, strike, etc. is prohibited. Candidates not abiding with these provisions are liable to beterminated. ❖ Ragging is strictly prohibited. If any incident of ragging comes to the notice of the authority, the concerned student shall be given liberty to explain and if his/her explanation is not found satisfactory, the authority would expel him/her from the Institute. ❖ No intimation to non selected candidates will be sent and no correspondence on this subject will beentertained. ❖ These rules are subject to change in accordance with the decisions of the Institute, taken from time totime. ❖ No free medical facility to students is to be provided by the Institute hence it is necessary for the students to have possess a health/med claim policy for obtaining medical facilities. ❖ The decision of the Director, SGPGIMS, Lucknow, shall be final in the matter of selection of candidate for admission to the various courses and no appeal shall be entertained on thissubject. • FORCEMAJEURE: If the entrance examination is postponed or cancelled (in part or in full) due to any reason whatsoever beyond the control of the organizers (viz. elements of nature, force majeure or orders/directives issued by any competent government authority), the institute shall not be responsible for any loss or injury sustained by the candidates directly or indirectly. • DISCLAIMER: The contents of the brochure are for information and guidance only and not valid for any legal purpose. Guidelines for filling the application form 1. Open the home page of SGPGI atwww.sgpgi.ac.in 2. Click on the link that announces the admission to B.Sc. Technologycourses. 3. On the “Online form submission” tab, click on “Register and Pay Online”. The State Bank of India, “State Bank Collect‟, page will open. Accept „Terms and Conditions‟, and clickon „Proceed‟. 4. Select “Category” as application fee, select the correct “Advertisement Number”, fill details of payment and submit. At this stage, you will be required to provide your name, date of birth, 10 -digit mobile phone number, email ID, father’s and mother’snames. 5. While filling your online registration slip / application form. It is your responsibility to remember your email-id and bank transaction number beginning with „DU‟ and date ofbirth. No telephonic/personal request, in this regard, will beentertained. 6. Verify details and confirmtransaction 7. Pay fees using options provided (Net banking, credit card, debit card challan paid in a branch of State Bank ofIndia). 8. A transaction alert will be sent to your registered mobile number 9.
