IMORU VIII Welcome 3 Dear colleagues, welcome to Hamburg for the 8th International Meeting on Reconstructive Urology (IMORU VIII). The successful story of IMORU started in 1999, 20 years ago, in Hamburg-Harburg, organized by Friedhelm Schreiter. In 2013, the venue was relocated to the University Medical Center Ham- burg-Eppendorf. The focus of the meeting always was, and still is, live surgery. Transmis- sions from the operating rooms provide the opportunity to observe the experts and discuss their techniques. As technology has advanced over the years, live transmissions from centers all over the world have become feasible. Semi-live presentations offer the option to present complex sur- geries condensed in video clips. Oral and poster presentations give you the opportunity to share your experience with the audience and discuss your results with the experts. Urethral reconstruction remains one of the most important topics in the field of reconstructive urology. A faculty of world renowned surgeons will share their expertise during the reconstruction of penile, bulbar & posterior strictures and hypospadias repair in children and adults. Another main topic is the reconstruction of the external male genitalia; where cor- poroplasty in patients with Peyronie’s disease and implantations of penile prosthesis will be presented. Gender reassignment surgery has been increasing steadily over the years; thus, we will show and discuss the current techniques of female-to-male and male-to-female reassign- ment. Solving complications after prostate surgery: such as incontinence, urethro-rectal fistula or anastomotic stricture after radical procedures to manage these complications, e.g. artificial sphincter implantation, will be presented. Another main topic of this year`s meeting is ureteral reconstruction. Minimally invasive surgery is entering the field of reconstructive urology with great force. Famous centers for laparoscopy and robot-assisted surgery will directly transmit into the lecture hall and show their techniques for ureteral reimplantation, pyeloplasty and reconstruction of the urethra. I am happy to welcome you to Hamburg and wish you an engaging and interesting meeting. Margit Fisch, M.D., F.E.A.P.U., F.E.B.U. Professor of Urology Director and Chair Department of Urology and Pediatric Urology University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf March 11 - 13th, 2019 | 8th International Meeting On Reconstructive Urology
