ICE North East Robert Stephenson Awards 2021 The Robert Stephenson Awards are held to promote the excellence of the engineering profession and give recognition to outstanding examples of research, design and construction undertaken by members and organisations within ICE North East. The awards will be made for Civil Engineering projects with a regional dimension in recognition of particular merit, physical achievement, innovation or ingenuity. Projects can include research work, technical papers or built infrastructure. These esteemed awards recognise projects that demonstrate excellence in concept, planning, design, construction, demolition, maintenance or operation. A19- A1058 Coast Road Improvements - The Robert Stephenson Awards will be held for up to one year, where one award Large Category RSA Winner 2020 may be given in each category, provided a sufficient standard is achieved. Winners will be announced at an online awards ceremony in spring 2021(date tbc). Dates Judging Entry deadline Thursday 28 January 1. A panel of up to four judges will be appointed for each category. At least one, but not more than two, of the judges should be members of the ICE North East committee. These criteria will be considered as they apply to all stages of the project including the concept, planning, design, construction, maintenance, operation and demolition. 1. Community benefit Please note, the judges will be paying particular attention to the sustainability, climate change impact and carbon footprint of the projects. The size and cost of the works will not be considered in the assessment process.
