GENERAL REGULATIONS MICHELIN POWER CUP These regulations are additional to the ACU Standing Regulations as laid out in the ACU Handbook. 1 ANNOUNCMENT The Hottrax Motorsport Michelin Power Cup Championships are a series of sprint races with grid starts. The machines are based on recent or current production motorcycles and available to the public through the normal commercial channels of the constructor/manufacturer. The series is designed for any rider or machine to a basic Superstock regulation with some additional tuning and upgrades allowed. Michelin tyres must be used at all times. 1.1 Rider Eligibility Michelin Power Cup Riders must be a member of Hottrax Motorsport to enter the Championship. Membership is £40 (or £35 online). Other membership options are available, please see membership details. A Michelin Jacket may be purchased for a cost of £65, other branded clothing may be made available. A new class dedicated towards novice and new ACU licence holders is being introduced in 2014 to run alongside the original concept of the Power Cup. The original concept will be named Michelin Power Cup Pro Championship and the new novice series will be named Michelin Power Cup AM Rookie Championships. Both series will contain a 600cc and 1000cc class Michelin Power Cup Pro Championship The 2014 Michelin Power Cup Pro Championship is restricted to riders who have not competed a full season in any ‘British’ (short circuit) titled Championships within the last 3 years. Riders will be restricted to any Clubman or National ACU licence holders. Other licence eligibility is on application to the club. First time Novice licence holders and Novice bib wearers are not eligible and will be entered into the Rookie Championship. Michelin Power Cup AM Rookie Championship The 2014 Michelin Rookie Power Cup Rookie Championship is restricted to riders with an ACU Novice or Novice/Intermediate licence. Riders can only be Rookies for one seasonable year and may not ride as a rookie in subsequent years. Rookies are defined as Novice or Intermediate/Novice ACU licence holders who have first gained their licence during 2013 or 2014 and have not completed 10 races since the start of 2013. The organisers reserve the right to examine special cases relating to these provisions. When a rider signs the entry form for the competition they are signing a sworn statement regarding their previous success in competition, any incomplete or false statement will result in immediate expulsion from the competition and repayment in full of any prizes received. The organisers may allow one or more riders to compete in individual races although they will receive no Championship points or prizes. The club reserves the right to exclude the Championship winners from re-entering the same class in the next year. 1.2 Classes MICHELIN POWER CUP AM ROOKIE 1000 MICHELIN POWER CUP AM ROOKIE 600 MICHELIN POWER CUP PRO 1000 MICHELIN POWER CUP PRO 600 1.3 Race Format 2 day meetings will consist of timed qualifying and a 2 sprint races on the first day and optional warm up and 2 feature races on the second day. Trophies and Championship points are available for all races. 1 day meetings format will consist of at least 2 races and qualifying may take place on the previous day. Full details will be made available trough the supplementary and final regulations The fastest lap during timed practice dictates grid position for all races. Championship points will be awarded for all races in the normal fashion of 25 points for a win down to 1 th point for 15 place. The last round of the series carries double points for all classes Races may be run together as split starts or with other classes on the grid depending on entry levels before the closing date. The club has the final say on race formats on the day. Page 2 of 5
GENERAL REGULATIONS MICHELIN POWER CUP 1.4 Tyres Riders may use tyres supplied themselves as long as they meet the specifications below or they may be purchased from the track side tyre provider; Protyre Motorsport. The use of other makes of tyres throughout the meeting is forbidden and will result in exclusion from the event. Rookie riders can use slick tyres. 1.4.1 Tyre designations The following Michelin Power Cup Treaded, Slick and Wet tyres will be made available. Michelin may introduce other tyres to the series as required. Front tyres: 120/70-17 VA compound Rear tyres: 180/55-17 B compound Treaded 120/70-17 VB compound Treaded 180/55-17 C compound Wet 12/60 -17 Wet 190/55-17 B compound 190/55-17 C compound 200/55-17 B compound 200/55-17 C compound Wet 19/67 - 17 Wet 20/69 - 17 Wet Slick tyres: 12/60-17 A compound Slick tyres: 19/69 -17 B compound 12/60-17 B compound 19/69 -17 C compound 20/69 -17 B compound 20/69 -17 C compound 17” Slick Racing Tyres are allowed in 2014. Any modification or treatment (cutting, grooving) is forbidden. Any combination of the above tyres may be run together. (Rookies may use slick tyres) 1.5 Number Plate and Colours for both series Michelin Power Cup 1000 - White background Black numbers Michelin Power Cup 600 - White background Blue numbers Rookie Classes - As Above Numbers and number plates must conform to standard ACU regulations and be readable at all times 1.6 Displacement capacities Michelin Power Cup 1000 4 cylinders Over 600cc up to 1000cc 4-stroke 3 cylinders Over 750cc up to 1000cc 4-stroke 2 cylinders Over 850cc up to 1200cc 4-stroke Michelin Power Cup 600 4 cylinders Over 595cc up to 600cc 4-stroke 3 cylinders Over 625cc up to 675cc 4-stroke 2 cylinders Over 625cc up to 750cc 4-stroke The displacement capacities must remain at the homologated size. Modifying the bore and stroke to reach class limits is not allowed. Page 3 of 5
GENERAL REGULATIONS MICHELIN POWER CUP TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS Machines must meet the ACU standing regulations as stated in the ACU handbook. Any other modifications or requirements for the series are described below. 1.7 General Regulations 1.7.1 Machines All machines must comply with ACU standing regulations and with the Michelin Power Cup Technical Regulations 1.7.1.1 Engines may not be modified other than blueprinting. Camshafts and sprockets may be changed. 1.7.1.2 Wiring looms may be modified 1.7.1.3 A Power Commander or similar plug-in programmable fuel control device may be fitted 1.7.1.4 Programmable igniter boxes or ECU’s are allowed. 1.7.1.5 Exhaust systems may be changed. 1.7.1.6 Starting system cannot be changed and may be checked at any time 1.7.1.7 Suspension – front fork internals may be changed, rear shock absorber may be changed 1.7.1.8 Brakes – Front Master Cylinders, Brake Calipers, Rotors, Brake Pads and Hoses may be changed. 1.7.1.9 Air intakes and air box may be modified, air filter element may be changed 1.7.1.10 Quickshifters are allowed 1.7.1.11 After market wheels are allowed but they must be 17” rims 1.7.1.12 Rear chain adjusters may be modified or replaced 1.7.1.13 Slipper clutch devices may be installed 1.8 Stickers Championship sponsor’s and series stickers must be fixed to the motorcycle during the meetings. Failure to do so may result in your exclusion from sponsor’s prizes. 1.9 Fuel All motorcycle engines must function on normal unleaded fuel with a maximum octane of 102. These regulations strictly prohibit the use of 'Bluegas', power boosters, octane boosters and the like. No additions are allowed to the fuel. E85 Bio-ethanol pump fuel is also allowed and the fuel tank must be marked to indicate this. 1.10 Michelin Power Cup Am Rookie Prizes and Awards Event Awards for 600 and 1000 classes • Awards are presented to the overall result from the event from either 1 day or days. Michelin or their sponsors are responsible for funding the following awards and Hottrax Motorsport is responsible for funding and supplying all trophies. • 1 pair of Michelin tyres to overall highest points scorer fro each class from the event nd rd • Sponsors prizes for 2 and 3 places per event • Catering and Hospitality for 2 people per entrant per round • Raffle for prizes from other suppliers to be announced • Trophies to the top 3 finishers overall highest points scorers subject to entry levels from the event awarded at the next event • Michelin will fund 'Buy 10 tyres get £50 off next purchase' via Protyre, the official tyre supplier to Hottrax/Michelin Power Cup. Overall Awards for 600 and 1000 Championship Prizes - Value £3000 st st • 600cc 1 - £750 in cash 1000cc 1 - £750 in cash nd nd • 600cc 2 - £500 in cash 1000cc 2 - £500 in cash rd rd • 600cc 3 - £250 in cash 1000cc 3 - £250 in cash • Trophies to the top 3 in each class and the above prizes are awarded at the presentation evening in th Milton Keynes on 6 December 2014. • Note: Riders must attend the awards evening and purchase a ticket to be eligible to collect awards and prize money. If riders cannot attend the awards ceremony they may send a substitute as long as at least one ticket is purchased. If the rider or a representative is not able to attend the event all prizes and awards will be forfeit and a replica plaque will be sent to the rider at a later date. • Note: Michelin is responsible for funding the cash awards and Hottrax Motorsport is responsible for funding and supplying the trophies. Michelin or their sponsors are responsible for funding the following awards and Hottrax Motorsport is responsible for funding and supplying all trophies and vouchers. • £800 in Hottrax Motorsport vouchers to overall event results split as follows: st nd rd o 600 1 place overall £200, 600 2 place overall £150, 600 3 place overall £50 st nd rd o 1000 1 place overall £200, 1000 2 place overall £150, 1000 3 place overall £50 • 1 pair of Michelin tyres to overall highest points scorer from each class from the event nd rd • Sponsors prizes for 2 and 3 places per event • Catering and Hospitality for 2 people per entrant per round • Trophies to the top 3 finishers overall highest points scorers from the event awarded at the next event • Michelin will fund 'Buy 10 tyres get £50 off next purchase' via Protyre, the official tyre supplier to Hottrax/Michelin Power Cup. All Michelin tyre purchases made via Protyre in the Hottrax paddock (for any series) will be entered into a draw to win a 'large prize' at the end of the season. Details to be announced In the case of equal points being obtained the rider with the fastest lap time from the overall event will be awarded the prizes. All awards are presented at the next round of the Championship at the Michelin truck and at the annual Hottrax Motorsport awards ceremony. (Prizes and awards are subject to change and availability and the European trip includes 4 days on track, bike transport to and from the circuit and 4 nights shared twin room hotel accommodation only) 1.11 Catering and Prize Giving Each Michelin Power Cup rider entered into a round may attend the evening presentation together with a guest free of charge at the Michelin truck. Identification may be required from guests for access to the awards and catering The awards for the previous round will be made during the next events presentation evening. 1.12 Garages These will be available at certain circuits at a cost of £25 per person and the space is shared with others. Only 1 bike per rider is allowed in the garages, extra bikes are £10 per bike Garages are allocated on a priority based on the date entries are received across all classes. Endurance teams get a garage allocation at all times. The garages are available for the race meeting and include the test days if appropriate. 1.13 Rookie Championship st Riders required by licence to wear an Orange bib on or after 1 March 2014 are eligible and remain eligible throughout the season even if they do enough to loose their orange bib status.
