Difference
Between
Community
Service & Take
Action Projects
Community Service vs. Take Action
Projects
• What’s the difference between community service and Take
Action?
• How do Girl Scouts Take Action?
• How do girls make their project sustainable?
• How can I help girls organize a Take Action Project?
• How can girls find out what other Girl Scouts have done for
their Take Action projects?
Community
  Service
COMMUNITY SERVICE
• Food drive for local food pantries
• Toy drive for homeless families
• Clothing and toiletries for victims of natural disasters
• Serving food at soup kitchen
• Making cookies for first responders
• Helping elderly neighbor rake leaves

               “Helping out right now”
Take Action
TAKE ACTION PROJECTS
• Creating a recycle bin at school
• Creating shelves at local pantry
• Creating a youth club to support the elderly needs of our
  community
• Creating a club to support people after natural disasters

“Keeps on giving after the Project is complete”
How do Girl Scouts Take Action?
Girls team up to:
• Identify a problem they want to do something about
• Come up with a creative and sustainable solution
• Develop a team plan
• Put the plan into action
• Talk about what they learned — and what they can’t wait to do next!
How do girls make their project
sustainable?
Sustainable:
• Make the solution permanent
• Educate and inspire other people: the ripple effect
• Change a law or regulation

                            “Pass it on”
How can I help girls organize a Take
Action Project?
Guide the girls through these steps:
1. Girls identify a problem they care about
2. Girls choose an issue
3. Girls learn more about the issue, then work together to come up with a
   plan
4. Girls do their Take Action Project
5. Girl reflect on their project
How can girls find out what other Girl
Scouts have done for their Take Action
Projects:
