A Vision of DSC graduates contributing to the profession and community • Alumni of DSC will provide the thought leadership to the sports coaching community in Singapore. • DSC alumni will be role models of best practices in sports coaching at various segments, include elite, children, youth, seniors, community, special needs and special interest groups. • Some of the DSC alumni will in future become the national coaches or technical directors for the various sports. Some will become policy makers, academics and researchers. • Beyond Singapore, some DSC alumni will venture overseas to work as expatriate coaches or run coaching academies that will add value to the Singapore brand. 17

IIP, with overseas assignments Sin Jun Jie supported as bike mechanic in the Tour de Bintan and the Bintan Triathlon in Indonesia as part of his IIP with Bike School Asia. He looks forward to continuing after his IIP with Ironman 70.3 Bintan (AY18S1). Khwang Li Yi went on assignment at the Asian Sailing Championship in Jakarta (Test event for Asian Games) as part of her IIP with Singapore Sailing Federation (AY18S1). Lim Zi Xyan was part of the Team Singapore’s coaching panel at the Thailand National Championship in Bangkok as part of his IIP with Wrestling Federation of Singapore. (AY18S1) 29

MOU with Singapore Athletics Association (SAA) • Since 21 February 2012 • Area of focus: Athletics coaching. • Progress: • Complete 5 runs, and benefitted 200 youth participants, and nurtured 30 aspiring coaches between 2012 and 2017. • 10 DSC Coaches currently working part-time with SAA or enrichment company over the weekend. • Programs in collaboration: • Kid’s Activator Course (KA). • IAAF Level 1 Coaching Course (NCAP Technical). • IAAF Level 1 Officiating Course to RP’s Diploma in Sports Coaching (DSC) students. 32

SHL Collaborates with Football Association of Singapore (FAS) Event: Launch of AFC “C” Coaching Certificate Course for Diploma in Sports Coaching Date: Saturday, 15 March 2014 Venue: Republic Polytechnic This is the first ever customised coaching course by FAS for any tertiary institution. The course will be held over 2 weeks at RP and conducted by the AFC certified trainers. The students who will complete the course will be licensed to coach football anywhere in the Asian region.
Collaboration with Professor Masamitsu Ito of Nippon Sports Science University • Prof Ito is an international renowned expert in sports coaching. • In May 2017, DSC students was privileged to attend a special lecture from him regarding contemporary development in sports coaching and preparations for the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympics. • In Nov 2018, Prof Ito is scheduled to conduct an academic benchmarking exercise for the DSC.
IOC Sports Administration Programme • Collaboration between the Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC) and the RP. • First run: 26 to 28 Oct 2017 • Second run: 28 Sep to 12 Oct 2018. • Speakers from Senior Management of SNOC, SportSG, NSAs, as well as experts from the industry and RP. • Event affirms RP’s SHL as an thought leader in the area of sports studies.

FWOP, Industry visit to Singapore Sports Institute • A comprehensive programme was delivered at the Freshmen Orientation Programme 2017 and 2018. • Many thanks to Singapore Sports Institute once again to have hosted budding DSC coaches on their first industry visit as a ember of the coaching community. • Staff shared insights with Freshmen at the Diploma Talk to help them learn about the expectations and programmes in DSC. "What we do in the dark shine in the light." Work hard daily and aim to achieve quality results! • William Low (Y3 in AY2016) who has been an active student leader and has taken numerous coaching courses in football, shared his learning journey with the freshmen. 45
