West Gainesville Large Area, Separate from UF Bubble ABOUT WEST GAINESVILLE Situated west of campus, West Gainesville is a large area with a lot to offer. Most residents say it provides a separate experience from UF, similar to South Gainesville in that respect. The main difference between the two is that West Gainesville is more heavily populated with students/families. It is also great for people shopping and eating but the town also offers pets. There are many places to keep them occupied and peace and quiet. Lots of families and young busy. Downtown Central Location ABOUT DOWNTOWN Situated northeast of Campus, Downtown Gainesville is a small, tight-knit area full of shops, cafes, and restaurants. Just like Midtown, it offers plenty of social opportunities and with UF's campus being right down University Avenue, class is just a short walk away. That said, since UF Law is on the north end of campus, your commute won't be as short as it is from Midtown or Downtown.
