Home Times Monthly A newsletter for Pond Home residents with all the news that’s fit to print December 2020 volume 153 To My Dear Residents, December, the last month of 2020. We all have great hope it will lead to a much more positive 2021. But while we are waiting let’s pause and think of the lessons 2020 has taught us. Here are a few I have learned: ~ I know a bunch of very resilient people – not the least of which is the employees & residents here at Pond Home ~ Nature is truly healing to me. Even looking at beautiful pictures of it gives me peace. ~ Human creativity abounds – we all had to learn to adjust and do what was ‘normal’ in a different way. ~ Every one of us is a survivor. ~Eat the cookie if it brings you joy! Many of these lessons you have helped teach. Thank you for being here as part of our collective effort to get through the Pandemic and come out the other side stronger still. Thanks for reading, Becky Annis, Administrator Staff Spotlight
Kevin Kelley I have been the faciltiy manager here at the Pond Home since November of 2004. I enjoy the challenge of maintaining a building that is as old as the Pond Home (circa 1700’s) and the newer sections as well. I enjoy assisting the residents, speaking with them, and getting to know them. I’ve been married for 39 years to my high school sweetheart, Cindy. She was a 7:00a - 3:00p charge nurse here at the Pond Home for 12 years. We have 2 children, Meaghan who ownes her own pre-school in Attleboro, and Michael who lives in Largo, Florida. Michael is an EMT/firefighter and is currently enrolled in college to study being a paramedic. I have 5 grandchildren, Gregory 10, Owen almost 4, Remy 2, they live in Florida. Shane is 9, and Melody is 5 and live in Attleboro. I enjoy camping and traveling to Disney to spend time with the Florida grandchildren. I enjoy wooodworking and have re-done our kitchen and dining room. I also enjoy making furniture and toys for the grandchildren. I enjoy working on cars and motors taking them apart and rebuilding engines. My son, Michael, and I rebuilt a Jeep using parts from another one! I graduated Mass Maritime and worked as the Chief Engineer on supply boats as well as oil rigs, research boats and cargo ships, maybe this is why I enjoy being out on the water! Getting the trailor ready for Florida(2019)! Kevin as the Chief Engineer!
Lee’s corner: I am hoping these quotes will ignite the holiday spirit. For some not only for Christmas but all the year through, the joy that you give others is the joy that comes back to you. -M. Sangster I do not need a holiday or a feast to feel grateful for my children, the sun, the moon, the roof over my head, music, and laughter. But I like to take this path of thanks less traveled. – P. Poundstone Before I agree to 2021, I need to see some terms and conditions-unknown Resident challenge for 2021- try learning something new! Learn something new in 2021. It can be something such as learning to knitting, computer skill, or a new game such as cribbage or even a new language. Activities will help where needed, see Fran. YOU just need to do the work! YOU are never too old to learn something new! Like Barbara is learning to us her iPad so she can talk to her family and play games like solitaire. YOU GO GIRL!
