Monday Daily Task Read aloud for 20minutes today to an adult and share your ideas about it. You could discuss: What happened (summarise) Any tricky words (clarify) Whether you enjoyed it or not (forming an opinion) Spelling: Write two lines of the following two spellings: Physical Prejudice Then, find the meaning of each word and decide which word class it belongs to – verb, adjective, adverb, noun etc. Daily calculations: Task 1 – Reading skills - Clarifying English Read the following passage which contains some nonsense words which are in red. For each word: 1. think about what it should mean by reading around the word. 2. decide its word class – adjective, noun, adverb, verb On a grundy winter evening, under the streetlights, young stibs in raincoats and hats hurry home through the gruzzlem wind, grumbling, fed up with the winter weather. Tuesday Daily Task Read aloud for 20minutes today to an adult and share your ideas about it. You could discuss: What happened (summarise) Any tricky words (clarify) Whether you enjoyed it or not (forming an opinion) Spelling: Write two lines of the following two spellings: Privilege Profession Then, find the meaning of each word and decide which word class it belongs to – verb, adjective, adverb, noun etc. Daily calculations: Task 1 – Reading skills – visualise and inference and finding evidence English As you read the passage, draw the character you visualise. Then annotate the image with ideas about what you think this person is like (inference). Tara peered timidly around the brick wall, her clothes a beautiful kaleidoscope of colour. Bright beads and a glittery red trip embroidered her emerald green dress. She watched the other children as they laughed and shouted to one another. They passed the ball from one child to the next. Tara smiled shyly. Her heart ached within her. Some question prompts to help you: How old is Tara? How do you know? How does Tara feel? How do you know? Is Tara playing with the children? Why or why not? Do the other children know Tara is watching? Task 2 - Maths Task 3 - Music Curriculum The way a song is sung gives it feeling. How does music make you feel? She is a member of the royal family of Sweden. However, she is no ordinary princess. She has volunteered in local hospitals during the Coronavirus pandemic, cooking and cleaning and helping however she can. Write a character description of her, using a range of adjectives and subordinating conjunctions. E.g. Although she is a princess, the selfless Sofia has been volunteering at local hospitals… Task 2 - Maths Task 3 - Topic- Science- friction Curriculum Last week we learnt about gravity. Have a spelling test of all this week’s spellings and see how you’ve done! Daily calculations: Task 1 - Spelling – homophones English There are lots of words which sound the same and may even be spelt the same but have different meanings. Can you explain the meanings of the following words in their sentences: 1. There was a large wooden chest, brimming with golden treasures. The ape beat his chest as he lunged at his rival. 2. A wave of panic engulfed the boy as he looked around. I wave goodbye to my friends at the end of the day. The librarian said she would waive the fee for my late book. 3. The man wore a red bow tie. As the end of the show, the cast would bow to their audience. 4. The weather was fine that evening. The child received a fine for losing her library book. Task 2 - Can you write 5 of your own word problems? These can be either one step or two step problems Maths and can involve any of the four operations (add, subtract, multiply and divide). Try not to make the questions too hard or too easy because you’ll also have to provide the answer for the questions. Try your best and if you are struggling try using one of the examples from earlier in the week to help you structure your question. Task 3 - Topic- History Curriculum Last week we found out about the feudal system, which provided order and stability during the Middle ages. Today we are going to think about what life was like for people in the different levels of the system. To start with, find out what it was like for the Lords and people living in towns. Read the information on the following page to find out more. Do you think you would have liked being a lord in the Middle ages? Use information to help explain your answer.
