Conference Program The 30th ESC 2019 will be all about the Future of Ageing. It will focus on the diseases that are coming up with the demographic change in our society and the methods of treatment of these. This topic is becoming more important in our progressively aging society. Keynote Speakers Prof. Roger Hajjar - Icahn School of Mount Sinai Dr. Roger Hajjar is the director of the Cardiovascular Research Center and the Arthur & Janet C. Ross Professor of Medicine at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, in New York. He is an internationally renowned scientific leader in the field of cardiac gene therapy for heart failure. His team was one of the first to clinically test a gene therapy vector for the treatment of heart failure. Prof. Akiko Maeda - Kobe Eye Center Prof. Maeda is a physician and senior scientist at the Kobe Eye Center in Japan. Her team is pioneering in implementing retinal pigment epithelium transplantation from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) to cure wet age- related macula degeneration (AMD). It is worldwide the first iPSC therapy to reach the clinic. Dr. Gael Chételat - Cyceron Imaging Center, University of Caen Dr. Gael Chételat is a research director of the Cyceron Imaging Center at the University of Caen, France. Her team is coordinating the EU-funded Silver Santé Study investigating mental health and well-being in the ageing population. With the Silver Santé study assessing, amongst other parameters, the effect of meditation of well-being over an 18 months’ time period, it is the longest meditation-intervention study performed thus far. Facts about ESC 2017 At the past ESC we welcomed 8 Speakers, over 450 participants, more than 75 Post-Docs, and we offered 20 different workshops. These participants attended to our conference from over 50 different countries and they covered a lot of different, medicine-related majors such as Medicine, Pharmacy, Biology, Biomedical Engineering and Public Health.
