Message from Fr. Rodolfo Caballero
Dear sisters and brothers in Christ,
In this occasion, I would like to recall the Holy Father’s Lenten message for this year, which has the
date of November 11, 2020. You may find the complete text at the website of the Vatican, https://
press.vatican.va/content/salastampa/en/bollettino/pubblico/2021/02/12/210212a.html. It is entitled:
“Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem “ (Mt 20: 18). Lent: a Time for Renewing Faith, Hope and
Love. Undoubtedly, the Pope would like us to go back to the basics, which is our relationship with the
good Lord. And that is brought about by the exercise of the supernatural virtues, faith, hope and love.
Therefore, the Pope invites us to “renew our faith, draw from the ‘living water’ of hope, and receive
with open hearts the love of God, who makes us brothers and sisters in Christ. With the virtue of faith
Pope Francis suggests “accepting and living the truth revealed in Christ”. For him, this “means, first
of all, opening our hearts to God’s word, which the Church passes on from generation to generation”.
By hope, he refers to the welcoming of the gift of the Holy Spirit in our lives, in spite, or rather, precisely on account of these
times of trouble, we should speak of hope. Yet Lent is a season of hope, “when we turn back to God who patiently continues
to care for his creation which we have often mistreated (cf. Laudato Si’, 32-33; 43-44)”. And he adds, “in Lent, may we be
increasingly concerned with “speaking words of comfort, strength, consolation and encouragement, and not words that de-
mean, sadden, anger or show scorn” (Fratelli Tutti, 223)”. Finally, sharing his thoughts about love, the Holy Father suggest
to follow the footsteps of Christ, “in concern and compassion for all”, as the highest expression of our faith and hope. Love,
indeed, gives meaning to our lives. May we take some time of reflection in order to meditate these words that may help us
live a better lent and an opportunity to strengthen our relationship with the Lord and, through it, with our brothers and sisters.

Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo,
En esta ocasión, me gustaría recordar el mensaje de Cuaresma del Santo Padre para este año, que escribió el 12 de febre-
ro del 2021. Usted puede encontrar el texto completo en la página web del Vaticano, https://press.vatican.va/content/
salastampa/es/bollettino/pubblico/2021/02/12/mens.html Que se titula: “Mirad, que estamos, subiendo a Jerusalén” (Mt 20,
18). Cuaresma: tiempo para renovar la fe, la esperanza y el amor. Sin duda, el Papa quiere que volvamos a lo básico, en
nuestra relación con el buen Dios. Y eso se logra mediante el ejercicio de las virtudes teologales, la fe, la esperanza y el
amor. Por eso, el Papa nos invita a “renovar nuestra fe, que sale del 'agua viva de la esperanza’ y recibir con el corazón
abierto el amor de Dios, que nos hace hermanos y hermanas en Cristo. Con la virtud de la fe, el Papa Francisco sugiere

Dr. Gonzalez earned her B.A. in Psychology from the Uni-
versity of Texas at San Antonio, her M.A. in Clinical Psy-
chology from St. Mary’s University and her Psy.D.
(Doctorate in Psychology) from Our Lady of the Lake Uni-
versity. She completed her Clinical Psychology Internship
and Residency Training Program at the University of Texas
Health Science Center San Antonio, Department
of Psychiatry. She was born and raised in San Antonio and
attended Catholic school from first through twelfth grade,
graduating from Blessed Sacrament Catholic School and
Incarnate Word High School. She has worked in psychologi-
cal and counseling services in a wide variety of settings
since 1990, to include in-patient and day treatment psychi-
atric hospital facilities, juvenile probation, public schools,

hospital and PTSD clinic, St. Mary's University Counseling
Center and OLLU Community Counseling Services. Her
primary clinical rotations were at Kerrville State Hospital and
Clarity Child Guidance.
Dr. Gonzalez is licensed by the Texas State Board of Exam-
iners of Psychologists as an LPA, independent practice.
She practices from a Solution-focused brief therapy/family
systems theoretical approach. Most significant to her work
here at Holy Trinity is her understanding of and adherence
to the Catholic anthropological view of the human person –
counseling the whole person, uniting psychology, philoso-
phy and theology. She will be providing individual, (adult/
teens/child), couple, and family counseling services to pa-
rishioners of Holy Trinity.
