OVERVIEW Cricket Australia is one of the nation’s premier sporting bodies and the peak body for cricket in this country. Operating within the sports and entertainment industry, they are responsible for overseeing and promoting cricket on a national level. As a leading sporting brand, Cricket Australia continues to de- liver cricket content watched live by millions of fans to align with their purpose which is to unite and inspire communities through Cricket. THE ROLE Cricket Australia are seeking a Head of Big Bash Leagues to lead and manage the planning, development, and execution of the W/BBL strategy, including League Operations and key stakeholder relationships. Reporting to the Executive General Manager – Fan Engage- ment, the Head of BBL will lead a team of commercial, fan en- gagement, events and event presentation experts and be ac- countable for the development of strategic frameworks, driving innovative fan initiatives and commercial outcomes for the BBL.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and Implement W/BBL Strategies • Develop annual W/BBL Business Plan that is aligned to and delivers outcomes across the Australian Cricket strategy • Manage key stakeholders including W/BBL Clubs and broadcaster to ensure alignment of objective and strategic direction • Work with the CA Strategy Team to develop and implement long term strategies for W/BBL Manage Central League Operations • Ensure obligations of Leagues and Clubs are met under the terms of the Team Participation Agreement and liaise with the CA Integrity Team to implement penalties for non-compliance • Lead the development of the annual BBL and WBBL match fixtures to optimise commercial outcomes • Liaison with CA Integrity to ensure policies and procedures are in place to avoid issues that impact the integrity of the Leagues (with a focus on corruption, doping, and code of conduct) • Manage policies and procedures of the BBL & WBBL including drafting of competition policies, rules and regulations, and compliance guidelines (including breaches) • Oversee player contracting rules and processes • Liaison with CA Events and Match Operations in relation to playing conditions for the Leagues that deliver an entertaining spectacle but respect the integrity of the competition • Oversee the development of the Event Presentation guidelines to ensure that presentation and delivery of BBL and WBBL match day is differentiated from other forms of cricket, and consistent with target demographic • Work in partnership with Marketing & Communications to ensure PR plans drive awareness, interest, viewership, and attendance at W/BBL matches • Develop and manage the annual BBL & WBBL Budgets • Review financial performance of Leagues and BBL Clubs and recommend appropriate funding arrangements related to strategic objectives • Monitor & report annual Leagues and Club performance & make recommendations to drive growth
