Domain: Students Growth and Achievement
Domain: Learning Supports

                                  FOCUS:
                             Literacy Skills
              Reading Comprehension and Writing
Divisional and GWS Literacy Background
In our ongoing divisional monitoring of student achievement, we note that
students in Clearview Public Schools have continued to experience
consistently strong growth in reading comprehension skills as measured
by our STAR Reading Assessments, in spite of disruptions to in school
learning due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, anecdotal evidence
suggests our student’s writing skills may not be experiencing equal growth
during this time - and a lack of standardized data (ie. PAT & Diploma exam
results) is providing some motivation to explore other writing skills
        measures in the future.
During our stakeholder engagement in the spring of 2021, using our
ThoughtExchange tool, we learned that staff, parent, and other
stakeholders identified literacy skills as one of the most significant priority
areas of focus for Clearview in our planning and preparation for 2021-22.
Gus Wetter School will make it a focus to work with our students to create

promote student growth in these areas.
