equestrian at castle leslie estate Meet the Horses Our horses welfare is of paramount importance to us at Castle Leslie Estate Equestrian Centre. Our aim is to provide an extremely high level of care to our horses and we work with a number of key suppliers including an equine chiropractor: Ted McLaughlin, equine dentist: Carol Perkins, farrier: Shane Cullen and vet: Donncha Houlihan MVB MRCVS. We now have 27 horses in our equestrian centre and in each of these quarterly newsletters, we will be featuring some of them. In this edition, we’d like to introduce you to ‘Bobby Joe’, ‘Betty’, ‘Summer’ and ‘Wilson’. b o b b y j o e - Used for our lead rein children Bobby Joe is 11hh and now one of oldest ponies at Castle Leslie Equestrian Centre. Bobby Joe enjoys lead rein lessons and his best friend is Melanie. b e t t y - Black Betty is a firm favourite with the younger children. Betty is 6 years old and enjoys life at Castle Leslie Equestrian Centre. Betty is 14.2hh and was broken in by the staff at the Equestrian Centre and now enjoys doing hacking, cross country and lessons. s u m m e r - Summer is an 8 year old chestnut mare and is 17.2hh. Named after the gentleman we bought him from, Wilson has worked at Castle Leslie Equestrian Centre for several years and is 17.2hh.
