On Thursday 6 & Friday 7 April, small timetable alterations will be made across Merseyrail’s Northern lines. This is to ensure an enhanced 7½ minute service can run between Liverpool city centre and Aintree racecourse to accommodate the large number of race-goers travelling to the Grand National Festival. On Saturday 8 April, unfortunately due to strike action by guard members of the RMT Union, a reduced train service will run across the Merseyrail network. However it will be possible to travel to Aintree by train and a 7½ minute service will run between Liverpool city centre and Aintree at key times, to carry the large number of race-goers travelling to Grand National Day.
