Learn German in Regensburg – since 1986 German Courses | Dates and Prices 2022 Two-Week Training Course for Teachers of German: Methodology & Language Regensburg Regensburg (UNESCO World Heritage, 150,000 inhabitants, 25,000 students), one of the most beautiful and vibrant cities in Germany, lies on the river Danube, at its northernmost point, close to the Bavarian forest. Regensburg, the largest medieval city in Germany, hosts a large number of street festivals and other cultural events every year. Old and young alike gather in the cosy and friendly city centre. It takes just an 1¼ hours to get here from the Munich airport. You can take a direct train from the terminal or book a Shuttle Service that takes you directly to your adress. Horizonte Our school lies right in the middle of the historical city centre. We offer our students • a personal atmosphere • qualified, experienced and committed teachers • a communication-oriented, effective and state-of-the-art teaching methodology • varied leisure time activities • free internet access • a library. Accommodation We suggest our self-catering dorm next door to the school (38 single and twin rooms). Please apply as early as possible, because it is often fully booked months in advance. You can also choose homestay with breakfast or half-board. Due to the often late confirmations of the National Agencies, we cannot always guarantee your favourite type of accommodation.
Learn German in Regensburg – since 1986 Teacher Training Course: Methodology and Language 2 weeks, 30 lessons (45 minutes each) per week Required level of German: minimum B2 Preparation: The participants will get useful pre-course information. Follow-Up: Participants will be asked to hand in a detailed commentary on the course, including how the course will impact on the professional development in their own country. Objectives • to refresh the oral and listening German • to update one’s knowledge in current German affairs • to enlarge one’s skills in methodology and didactics in teaching German to learners from about 14 years of age • to be able to apply a modern, communication-oriented teaching methodology • to benefit from the exchange and sharing of best practice with colleagues We expect the participants to actively contribute to the lessons. We would be pleased to discuss their ideas, teaching materials, projects, etc. You should not expect to get ready-mades for your teaching practice. Sample Timetable • Linguistic skills: Monday to Friday 09.00 to 10.30 & 11.00 to 12.30, 20 lessons (45 min each) per week in international groups (not guaranteed); Training of oral and listening skills, idiomatic matters, error correction, working with current authentic texts • Methodology & Didactics: Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri from 13.30: a total of 10 weekly lessons in 4 units (450 minutes); Methodology of communication-oriented teaching: teaching grammar, working with pictures, films, texts and songs, German culture, youth and street speech Additional Programme (open for all HORIZONTE students) After 15.30: talks on current political and cultural topics, guided city tours, cultural activities (films, cooking, etc.) On Wednesday afternoons excursions or visits of museums, companies etc. and every other Saturday excursions to other Bavarian cities.
