GANTEN CHIA SARDINIA GRANFONDO
COMPETITION RULES
(in attesa di approvazione FCI)
The Ganten Chia Sardinia Granfondo (2nd edition), is a cycling road race organized by Laguna Running
SSDrl together with MG Sport, that takes place in Chia-Domus De Maria (SU), on Thursday, April 25
2019, at 9:30 am. The race includes three race distances: a 126 km long distance ‘granfondo’, a 94 km
medium distance ‘medio fondo’ and a 49 km short distance ‘corto’.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
• F.C.I members and Enti di Promozione Sportiva members who hold an active health
certification attesting the ability to practice competitive cycling.
• Foreign amateur cyclists who own an active 2019 U.C.I. membership, released by their own
national cycling federation, or provide the ethic certification in English language and the
suitability certification according to the form that can be downloaded on the federation website.
• Members of the associations/clubs who have signed the agreement with F.C.I for 2019 and
members of the associations who can provide the Bike Card together with their
association/club membership card.
Cyclist who do not own an active membership can apply for a daily F.C.I membership. The fee is euros
10,00 and covers third party liability insurance during the event. In order to apply for a daily
membership, it is mandatory to provide an active health certification attesting the ability to practice
competitive cycling. Membership must be requested in advance, by either Italian and foreign athletes,
during the registration process.
AMATEUR CYCLISTS can take part in the granfondo, mediofondo and corto.
CYCLE SPORTING CYCLISTS can only take part in the mediofondo and corto.
The Organizing Committee can decide at any time whether accept an entrant or not, in case entry
might cause damage to the event image. Entry to cyclists with over 6 months penalties related to
doping will be denied.
All entrants taking part in the GANTE CHIA SARDIN IA GRANFONDO must accept and sign the
following Waiver of Responsibility:
RELEASE, WAIVER OF LIABILITY AND AUTHORIZATION: “I declare under penalty of perjury (art.
26 l. 15/68 and art. 489 c.p.) that: I have read and understood the ‘GANTEN CHIA SARDINIA
GRANFONDO’ race rules; I recognize that participation in the event is a potentially hazardous activity and I
willingly assume all risks associated with such participation; I am aware that in registering to the event I must provide an
active medical certificate for competitive athletics and be 16 years old on race day; I am voluntarily entering and I hereby
assume all of the risks of participating in this event: falls, contact with vehicles, other participants, spectators or other
traffic, the effects of the weather, including heat and/or humidity, cold temperature, traffic and other conditions of the
course, all such risks being known and appreciated by me.
Having read this waiver and knowing these facts, and in consideration of your acceptance of my application for the
GANTEN CHIA SARDINIA GRANFONDO, I, for myself and anyone entitled to act on my behalf, waive and

shareholders, directors, officers and employees of the foregoing entities, from present and future claims and liabilities of any
kind, known or unknown, arising out of my participation in the event.
I understand that the GANTEN CHIA SARDINIA GRANFONDO entry fee is not refundable, not even in the
event of the race cancellation or postponement, or due to any reason that cannot be attributed to the organizers, including
revocation by public authorities.
In registering to the event, I agree to allow my photo, video or film likeness to be used for any legitimate purpose by
organizers, sponsors and assigns.
I certify that I have read the privacy document available on the official website www.followyourpassion.it and I that I have
given consent to the use of personal data. Collected data will only be used for the purpose provided in the privacy document

Online registration open starting 8/02 on the website www.followyourpassion.it.

A discount can be granted to teams and Sardinian residents. Please contact organizers through the
email bike@followyourpassion.it for more information.
Fee includes: Race bib, timing chip, insurance, technical and medical assistance, merchandise bag, aid
stations along the course, official program and information materials, timing, showers facilities, pasta
party admission, finisher’s certificate (website download)
Registration closing:
Online registration providing a race bib with the entrant’s name will close on Sunday, 14 April 2019 at
h 24:00.
Online registration not providing a race bib with the entrant’s name will close on Tuesday, 23 April
2019 at h 24:00.
Onsite registration will be open on-site, on Wednesday 24 April, at the Chia Laguna Conference Centre
from h 10:00 to 19:00.
Registration can be closed in advance if deemed necessary for security reasons at sole discretion of the
organizers. Ten wild cards can be assigned at sole discretion of the organizers. Entrants must provide
all personal information, membership and health certification one month prior to the event or at the
moment of registration.

site.
Registration confirmation
Registration confirmation will be provided by email. In case entrant does not receive any confirmation
email, please contact chia@tds-live.com.
RACE SCHEDULE
Bib number and Merchandise Bag pick-up:
Race bib is personal and can not be transfered or switched. Race bib and merchandise bag can be
picked-up at the Chia Laguna Conference Center, V.le Belvedere snc Domus De Maria (SU). Licence
and registration confirmation will be requested, together with an active ID. Pick-up hours:
- Wednesday 24 April 2019, h 15:00-19:00
- Thursday 25 April 2019, h 6:30-8:15
Bib number and merchandise bag can be picked-up by another person through an authorization form
and the owner’s ID copy.
Personal bib number (to be attached on the left side) and bike number (bike front on the handlebars)
are mandatory, penalty is disqualification from time results.
Starts and Corrals
Riders must start in their designated corral, as signaled with a proper sign. Riders taking part in the
short distance start in the last corral.

Timing:
Any athlete will be given a timing chip together with the bib number. Timing chip must be
worn properly at all times during the event and must be returned at the end of the race. There
will be a € 45,00 charge per timing chip not returned.
Timing stations
At the start, finish and on the course. Entrants who do not check-in at the start will be expelled from
the final results and subject to a F.C.I. fine.
Aid stations and technical support stations
Aid stations and technical support stations will be provided along th course for bikers wearing the bib
number only.

126 km – Start S.P. 71 (Chia Laguna hotel entrance), Chia crossroad, Domus De Maria, Teulada,
Santadi, At the roundabout, keep the winery side and follow the Nuxis directions, Nuxis, Acquacadda,
Narcao, Perfugas, Tratalias, ride along Lago di Monte Pranu, Giba, Masainas, Sant’Anna Arresi, Porto
Teulada crossroad, Capo Malfatano, Tuerredda, finish at Chia Laguna.
Course - Medio Fondo:
94 km – Start S.P. 71 (Chia Laguna hotel entrance), Chia crossroad, Domus De Maria, Teulada, Santadi,
At the roundabout, keep the winery side and follow the Piscinas directions, Giba, Masainas, Sant’Anna
Arresi, Porto Teulada crossroad, Capo Malfatano, Tuerredda, finish at Chia Laguna.
Course - Corto:
49 km – Start S.P. 71 (Chia Laguna hotel entrance), Chia crossroad, Domus De Maria, Teulada, Porto
Teulada crossroad, Capo Malfatano, Tuerredda, finish at Chia Laguna.
Time Limit
Cut-off to cover the distance: by h 16:30.
Riders who will cross the finish line after h 16:30 will be disqualified. Riding schedule for both courses
are available on the website www.followyourpassion.it
Closing Gate:
Riders taking part in the gran fondo (126 km), who will not cross the closing gate by h 14:00 (located at
Cantina Santadi crossroad, Giba direction), will be diverted to the medio fondo course.
Results
Overall, Age Group and Team results will be provided, and available on the event official website.
Awards ceremony
Awards ceremony will take place at Chia Laguna (piazza degli Ulivi or piazza Sardegna), together with
the pasta party.
Prizes must be picked up in person and no shipping will be provided.

First 3 overall men and women for each course: Elite sport (19-29), Elite Woman Sport (19-29
years old), Master woman 1 (30-39 years old), Master woman 2 (40 years old and over),
Master 1 (30-34 years old) Master 2 (35 to 39 years old), Master 3 (40-44 years old), Master
4 45-49 years old), Master 5 (50-54 years old), Master 6 (55-59 years old), Master 7 (60-64
years old), Master 8 (65 years old and over).
- TEAMS
Top 10 overall teams (total km covered by athletes from each time at the finish line by 16:30)
GENERAL INFORMATION
Medical assistance:
Medical assistance will be provided by the organization at the start, finish and along the course. Riders
can contact 118 just in case of emergency.

Registration can be transferred to another athlete that meets registration requirements.
Registration can also be transferred from one distance to another. In case the fee is higher than the
previous one paid, the imbalance must be paid at bib pick-up. In case the fee is lower, no refund will be
provided.
Registration transfer must be requested by Sunday, April 21, 2019 to chia@tds-live.com and entails a
euros 7 (seven) fee that is due at race bib pick-up.
Crossroads:
Organizing staff, volunteers and police officers will oversee crucial crossroads.
Theft:
Organizers are not responsible for unattended bikes theft.
Withdrawn athletes:
A broom wagon will trail the course and strugglers can get a ride to the finish.
Race assistance
The organization will provide technical and medical assistance during the race. No outside assistance is
allowed.
Vehicles
Only authorized vehicles will be allowed on the course.

Race behavior/traffic laws
Some but not all roads will be closed for traffic and riders must obey to traffic laws at all times. Riders
who are passed by the vehicle with the “Cycling race end” sign must complete the race in obeying to
traffic laws. Riders who take part in the race with no regular registration will be responsible for any
accident that might occur.
Garbage policy
The Chia Granfondo is committed to protecting the environment. Any discarding of trash or food
outside the designated trash receptacles at the aid stations is prohibited and can lead to disqualification.
Information and hospitality

Insurance:
All riders are covered by an insurance provided by F.C.I. and the Organizing Committee.
HELMET IS MANDATORY and must be worn by all riders at all times.
Complaints:
All complaints must be addressed to the race judges together with the payment of the F.C.I. fee.

According to the D.lgs. n°196 del 30/6/2003, before registration athletes must accept the privacy
policy, available on the official website www.followyourpassion.it.
According to the D.Lgs. n°196 del 30/06/2003 (“Testo Unico della Privacy”), personal information
will only be used for start lists, results, archive, and to send information or promotional materials about
the Ganten Chia Sardinia Granfondo or its partners.
In registering to the Ganten Chia Sardinia Granfondo athletes authorize organizers and media partners
to use images or videos taken during the race.
Event cancellation:
In the event of cancellation or postponement of the race, due to reasons who can not be attributed to
organizers, including revocation by public authorities, entrants can not ask for any refund to either
organizers, Laguna Running SSDrl and MG Sport Srl.
Rules can be altered at any time if deemed necessary at sole discretion of the race organizers. In
registering to the race, entrants accept all of the above clauses.
Please note: the organizing commettee reserves the right to change this rules at any time for reasons
that will consider appropriate in order to provide a better race, upon F.C.I. agreement. The event will
take place with any weather conditions. Please refer to ‘Regolamento Tecnico del Settore Amatoriale e
Cicloturistico Nazionale S.A.N. for further rules non included in this guide.
