From the Director of Students and Family Services St Paul’s annual swimming carnival was held at Oasis, Cystic Fibrosis Australia is a charity that our prefects have South Windsor last Friday. Attendance was excellent supported for many years now and the initiative goes from strength to strength with our prefects raising over $900 this with all of the houses doing an awesome job of year. Congratulations to our prefects on their great effort and a decorating their house areas in the pool’s grandstand. special thank you to George Clark in Year 12 who assisted our prefects in sourcing additional roses at very short notice. A special mention to Wilberforce house who went very ‘tribal’ in the way they designed their section of the stand. Mr Philip Heath In terms of results the champion swimming house was very Director of Students and Family Services clear cut in 2019 with Claremont dominating the competition on 654 points, a massive 96 points clear of the rapidly improving Strathdon, who relegated last year’s winners Wilberforce into third position. The War Cry competition was won for the second successive year by Cornwallis. Claremont capped off a very successful day by finishing second in the war cry with Melville in third. Congratulations to Claremont on their fantastic achievement and to all our students and staff, particular Mr Anthony Kelshaw who organised the carnival, for making the day such a huge success. Additionally, since that last edition of Revelations, the Junior School Swimming Carnival was held at Richmond pool. It was here that our 2019 Middle Years Prefects did an excellent job of helping our staff in staging the event. I was fortunate enough to be able to attend part of the carnival and witnessed our prefects doing a great job timing races, conducting novelty events and whipping up plenty of house spirit amongst the Junior School students. The Junior School staff was very appreciative of our prefects’ assistance. This week has also seen our Middle Years Prefects start a new initiative providing help to our Canteen staff in serving the Junior School students. It is great to see their willingness to serve our school and they have started their year as prefects in fine style! Senior prefects have also had a busy start to the year. In addition to all the swimming carnival organisation, our prefects also conduct our annual ‘65 Roses for Cystic Fibrosis’ fundraiser. This involves the pre selling, ordering and de- thorning of a large number of roses. Prefects then write and attaching message tags to each rose before delivering them to students. Prefects commenced this process at 7.30 on the morning with Miss Paragalli’s classroom resembling a wholesale florist before school when the production line was in full swing.
