This fun song, written by Rodgers and Hammerstein for the Broadway musical hit, “Carousel” pretty much says it all about the month of June. Another favorite piece, written by F.G. Sanders, is a children’s poem simply entitled., “June”: “Far up in the deep blue sky, – January 25th Great white clouds are rolling by; All the world is dressed in green, Many happy birds are seen. Roses bright and sunshine clear Show that lovely June is here.” After over a year of many challenges, what a welcome month it is! With only thirty days in it, may you find moments to enjoy it to the fullest. “Just because it’s June”! Submitted by Char Jorgensen

Thanks Dad Thanks for watching over me, through all the many years. Through childhood and laughter, through growing up and tears. Thanks for always being there, in what you say and do. I never had to fear, abandonment from you. Thanks for being faithful, always to your wife, That I could grow up knowing, she was precious in your sight. Thanks for never hurting me, the way some fathers do. I never had to worry, about such things from you. Thanks for all the knowledge, the wisdom, and the truth, You constantly were giving me, when I was just a youth. Thanks for all the years you gave, so I could have a home, And take with me fond memories, long after I had grown. Thanks for those vacations, those periods in time, When you would show me places, so different from mine. Thanks for the beauty, I have found through you. The rocks, the trees, the birds, the breeze, I see them as you do. But, most of all, I thank you, for helping me to see, That God the Father sent His son, to show His love for me. Dad, thanks for watching over me, in all you say and do, And I can thank the Father for such a Dad as you. Father Day Quotes The most important thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother. -Henry Ward Beech It is a wise child that knows his own father. -Homer It is a wise father that knows his own child. -William Shakespeare A man’s desire for a son is usually nothing but the wish to duplicate himself in order that such a remarkable pattern may not be lost to the world. – Helen Rowland I cannot think of any need in childhood as strong as the need for a fathers protection. –Sigmund Freud
