1. Divisions
All players may compete in the Division applicable to their respective year of
Secondary school, though can play in a higher division if indicated on the registration
sheet. Players can only play in one team on the day. Any teams that are caught with
players playing in multiple teams will be penalised with competition points and
possible disqualification. Girls cannot play in boys divisions.

2. Registrations
All teams must register their players with the registration sheet, 30 minutes prior to
their first match including all registration money ($70 per team). Payment is
preferred prior to the day. All cheques need to be made out to Central Coast Oztag,
receipts will be given on the day for all payments. Each team should fill out their
registration forms which will be sent with the draw.

3. Match Time
22 minutes straight (no halftime) and no time off for injuries. There will be three
minutes between each match to prepare for the next game.

Times set down for the commencement of play will be adhered to as closely as
possible. Teams must be ready to take the field at their given time and are asked to
be ready and at the field, ten minutes prior to the game to ensure we are running
smoothly. A team not ready to start will give away one try per minute they are
running late, to the referees discretion. Teams should be ready to take the field as
soon as the siren sounds in the previous match.
4. Draws in Semi & Final Games
In the event of a draw in quarter finals it will be first try scorer through to semifinals.
There will be golden point extra time in the Semi Finals with maximum seven
minutes. This will take place with five players on the field with no substitutions being
able to be made. During this time, a game is over if a team scores, though if it is in
the first set there is a right of reply for the team who has not touched the ball yet. If
it is still a draw at the end of extra time the team who scores first in regular time will
be declared the winners. If there is no try scored then the team finishing higher in the
preliminary rounds will advance to the final (includes for and against if they have the
same competition points accumulated).

In Grand Finals, golden point will be ten minutes each way, again with five players on
the field, game still being over when the first team scores (after right of reply if
needed). There will be a short presentation for Winners and Runners up at the
conclusion of the Finals.

5. Substituting Players
Substitutes can be made at any time, but we recommend Substitution when your team
is in possession of the ball.

6. School Representatives
School Representatives should have teams at sideline of field of play ten minutes prior
to your match. Team captains should take a toss to determine which end they will
defend, and who will kick off to commence game as quickly as possible.

7. Playing Attire
School sports or school team uniforms should be worn, with all shirts to be tucked in
during play. Tags will be provided at the field but schools will need to bring their own
to warm up with if needed.

No shorts with pockets are allowed due to insurance issues. We invite students
that own official Oztag Shorts to wear them to play, Shorts will be available to
purchase on the day for $25, those without are encouraged to purchase. Schools are
to provide their teams with belts if Oztag shorts are not worn (if you are unable to do
so, there will be some belts available with a $5 deposit). We encourage that football
boots be worn (no metal studs allowed).

Tags will be provided at each field and are to be left there at the conclusion of each
match.

Therefore Prohibited Attire: Shorts with pockets, Football boots with metal studs and
jewellery.

8. Wet Weather
If there are heavy falls prior to the day then please check your emails for notices of
postponement. If there is heavy downfall overnight please look at our website
www.centralcoastjunioroztag.com or Facebook page. School co-ordinators (not
parents or students) can call Dale 0401096692 or Charmaine 0423655289 to confirm
whether the day will go ahead after 6.30am (please do not give these numbers to
students to contact). Players may also check the Central Coast Junior Oztag Facebook
page for updates. Morrie Breen Oval and Woongarrah Sporting complex both have
great drainage so it will take a lot of rain for the games to be postponed.

9. Injuries
All injuries should be reported to the administration area immediately when the game
concludes. There will be first aid provided on the day. Strapping is also available if
students provide their own tape, though please allow time for this.

10. Conduct
Referees reserve the right to abandon a game if they deem necessary in the case of
violent conduct, referee abuse and/or fighting. Any player sent off will have an
automatic two game suspension, though can be longer dependent upon severity of the
case and any player sent off for fighting will be banned for the duration of the
tournament and will be suspended through to regular competitions dependent upon
severity of the case. Teams that are repeat offenders can be thrown out of the
competition.

Any spectator, parent, teacher or player that are acting inappropriately on sideline
(violent conduct, offending conduct, abusive or any such conduct) will be removed
from the fields to ensure that the day is played in the right spirit.
ABBREVIATED OZTAG RULES

a) The Basics

 Oztag is a non tackling version of rugby league.

 Maximum of 8 players at any one time.

 Defender must remove one or both tags to stop attackers progress. He/She then
holds up the tag and drops it to the ground marking where the play the ball should
       occur.

 There is a marker in the play the ball.

 Defence must be back seven metres.

 Defensive line can move forward only when dummy half touches the ball. Dummy
half can run and be tagged with the ball.

 Six tags/plays to promote ball before changeover.

 An attacker must stop and play the ball if he is in possession with only one tag on.

 The only persons able to promote the ball with one tag on are the dummy half, and
the player taking the tap (as long as they do not take more than one step with the
       ball.

 A knock back is play on, knock on advantage rule applies - same as league.

 An attacker must stop and play the ball if he is in possession with only one tag on.

 The only persons able to promote the ball with one tag on are the dummy half, and
the player taking the tap (as long as they do not take more than one step with the
       ball.

 The game is non-contact the attacker cannot deliberately bump into defender. A
defender cannot change direction and move into attackers path. Whoever initiates
contact will be penalised. The onus is on the attacking player to avoid defender.

 The ball carrier is not allowed to protect his tag or fend off defenders.

 A try is awarded to the attacking team when they ground the ball on or over the try
       line.

 Simultaneous tag is play on. (If the referee is unable to decide, the pass is allowed -
play on. The advantage goes to attacking team.)

 An attacker may pass the ball over his/her try-line to a team mate who may run the
ball out. If the ball is dropped, the ball is deemed dead. A player in possession may
run behind his try-line and back out into the field of play.

 Players can dive to score a try, however, if this player touches the ground with the
knees or arms before the try line or slides across the line and a defender is within
tagging distance a try is disallowed and a tag is counted.
 A player can go down on their knees to score a try over the try line.

b) Kicking

 A team may kick the ball before the initial tag is made. (eg: a team picks up the ball
in general play from a kickoff, knock- on, loose ball etc.. may kick the ball before
being tagged) Once a tag has been made, the ball may not be kicked again till after
       the fourth tag.

 Kicks in General play cannot be above the shoulder height of the referee. Attacking
team cannot dive on a kicked ball in any situation, but can kick on.

 Kick offs and line drop outs. If the ball lands in the field of play and then rolls across
the try line whether touched or not a line drop out occurs. Try line becomes the dead
       ball line for all kicks.

 If the ball is kicked or passed into the referee, the referee will order a changeover
       where he was struck.

c) Misconduct

 Unsportsmanlike conduct covers the behaviour and attitude of players on the field
and may result in penalty, sin bin or dismissal.

 The Australian Oztag Sports Association has and will hand out lengthy penalties for
       fighting.
