Our junior registration and payment process is now entirely online. Online registration and payment: 1. Read the information in this document. 2. Register and pay your online subscription via our link here. I played for a different club last season. Can I still register with Bentleigh? If you have played for a different junior club in the previous two years you should apply to us to transfer your registration to Bentleigh. You can still register with Bentleigh however you must be transferred from the club you previously played. We will organise your transfer and contact you when this process has been finalised. Is there any pre-season training? Subject to COVID return to play guidelines we will be having pre-season training. This is likely to be in small groups and will all be held outdoors at the club nets (Bentleigh Reserve, Arthur St Bentleigh at a time and date to be advised. How much is junior registration? Junior registration fees for this season are: • Mixed Rookies, U12, U14 and U16: $230.00 • All Girls Cricket: $155.00 • Mixed junior cricket and All Girls $235.00 (For girls that wish to play both All-Girls cricket and in a junior mixed team. Note that registration for both All-Girls and Mixed Junior cricket is required). How does Bentleigh's subscription fee compare to other local clubs and what do I get for my money? Our subscription fee compares very well with other clubs (other clubs can charge anywhere from $300 to $600). The fee covers all the costs of your child playing cricket at Bentleigh, including equipment, insurance and affiliation. New players also receive a free cap. Page 1 of 5
Bentleigh Cricket Club Juniors – Frequently Asked Questions for Season 2021/2022 Must I register/pay to play? All players must be registered to play, and registration can only be completed by paying. Registration should be completed as soon as possible to be enable club planning for the season to take place. Do I have to register online? Yes. Online is the only way to register and pay to play. Please contact the Secretary secretary@bentleighcc.com.au if you have any questions. Can I register online but pay separately/manually? No. Payment at time of registration is required as this cuts down our administrative overhead and correctly calculates insurance fees payable to Cricket Australia. Do I have to pay additional fees/charges for online registration? No, your registration fee is all you pay. Although the club pays a transaction fee for use of the payment facilities, we have decided to absorb this for now. Is the online registration and payment process secure? Yes, both personal data and all payment information are encrypted using SSL (Secure Sockets Layer). Can I pay my subscription fees over time (payment plan) and does online registration and payment cater for this? Previously, a payment plan option was available for full junior registration as part of the online registration process. However, this is no longer available as Cricket Australia decided to suspend this feature. Team structure and age group information What are the age groups? • Under 12's - players must be under the age of 12 by the 1st of September for the coming season. This includes Under 12 Rookies. • 13 & Under Girls - players must be under the age of 13 by the 1st of September for the coming season. • Under 14's - players must be under the age of 14 by the 1st of September for the coming season. • Under 16's - players must be under the age of 16 by the 1st of September for the coming season. • 16 & Under Girls - players must be under the age of 16 by the 1st of September for the coming season. • Under 18's - players must be under the age of 18 by the 1st of September for the coming season. * Note that there is some age qualification flexibility in girls playing mixed cricket. Can girls play? Yes, girls are always encouraged to play, and we have quite a few that currently do. For further information see the All-Girls Cricket Overview page on our website. Page 2 of 5
Bentleigh Cricket Club Juniors – Frequently Asked Questions for Season 2021/2022 What if it is my first-time playing cricket or what if I have just come out of the Junior Blasters or Master Blasters program? We offer a mixed under 12 Rookies team and 13 & Under All-Girls which is perfect for anyone who is just starting out in cricket. What about Coaches and Managers? Coaches and Team Managers for each team are appointed each season. Your Coach and/or Team manager will be in contact with you prior to the commencement of each season. Are the Coaches/ Managers experienced? All our coaches are minimum Level 1 Cricket Australia Coaching Accredited and have a current Working with Children Check. Our Team Managers also hold a current Working with Children Check. Training and games attire What clothing do I need for training? It is expected that players wear appropriate training shirts (either a club training shirt or another white t-shirt or their blue playing shirt) with comfortable runners/sneakers and track suit pants or shorts. A cricket hat (wide brim or cap) as well as sunscreen is also advisable. Players are advised to bring a drink bottle to training, as its often distracting to the training session to have kids ducking off to get a drink. This season there will be extra rules about bringing you own drinks, food, sunscreen etc. And we will all need to have our own cricket equipment as sharing will not be allowed. What clothing do I need for playing? Long white cricket pants (coloured pants for girls), cricket shirt (see below) and runners. A cricket hat (wide brim or club cap) as well as sunscreen is also advisable. Where can I purchase clothing? All new club clothing (shirts, pants, caps etc.) will need to be purchased online, this will see the same uniforms being worn across the entire club (seniors, juniors, men, women, girls, boys) and make the purchasing easier for the parents and the club. The online store is live at the link below. There is a monthly order cut-off so please order now if you are a new player. It does take 4 weeks after the cut-off for delivery so if you need a new shirt or white pants for the start of the season please order before the 30th. https://www.swivslocker.com.au/Clubs/Bentleigh-CC/Shop The shirts to purchase are the 1-day Polo Shirt (LS/SS) and there is a sizing guide on the site to assist you with getting the right size. The new blue shirts that were purchased last year can still be worn, the same with any old white pants, however there are new club white pants that can be purchased on the online site. New caps are also available to purchase on the site. Each new player receives a free club peaked cap when they first register. Page 3 of 5
Bentleigh Cricket Club Juniors – Frequently Asked Questions for Season 2021/2022 Training information When is training? Teams generally train once a week on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. Specific training days depend on the number of teams, age groups and player/coaching availability. We hope to have a good idea of specific training days by the time we start training, however we will notify all players once days/times are confirmed. Game day information What days do the teams play on? This information will be made available once we are notified by the association. Generally, this will be on a Friday evening, Saturday or Sunday morning, or a Wednesday. What are the starting times? U12 (Rookies) start at 9:00am. U12 Sat - 8:15am sharp for one day games or 8:45am for two day games. 13 & Under Girls – from approximately 5pm U12 Fri, U14, U16 - Friday Twilight games commence at approximately 4:30pm. 16 & Under Girls – From 8:45am U18 Wed – commence at approximately 4:30pm. What are the finishing times? U12 (including rookies) - Approximately 11:15am (one day) and 11:45am (two day) games. U12, U14, U16 and U18 Wednesday and Friday Twilight games finish at approximately 7:00pm. 13 & Under Girls – approximately 7:30pm 16 & Under Girls – approximately 11:30am What if it rains on game day? In general, always assume that cricket is on, no matter what the weather looks like (unless told otherwise by your Team Manager or Coach). Often, no decision can be made until the last moment as the weather (especially in Melbourne) can change quickly. Unless informed, every player should turn up at the ground before the appointed time and be prepared to stay until the match can start or it is called off. Please do not call coaches or team managers 10 minutes prior to the game's scheduled commencement asking if the game is on. Fixture and season dates When do we get a fixture? Fixtures are compiled by SECA (South East Cricket Association) and the AGCC (All-Girls Cricket Competition) and posted online. This is obviously a detailed task and can take until the third round until clubs receive finalised fixtures. Season fixtures are for available via MyCricket. Page 4 of 5
Bentleigh Cricket Club Juniors – Frequently Asked Questions for Season 2021/2022 When does the season start? The exact date the season will start is to be confirmed. Is there a break over Christmas? Yes. The last game before Christmas is usually the second last weekend before Christmas. The first game back after the Christmas break is usually the second or third weekend of January. Once this is confirmed, we will update the website. Assisting the club Can parents/guardians help out? Yes, parents/guardians are encouraged to help out. While we have a game day Coach and Team Manager, parental/guardian help is always required and appreciated. How can I help out? Setting up stumps, sweeping the pitch, putting out boundary cones, scoring (where able) and umpiring (where able) are just some of the jobs you could assist with. That sounds like a lot of work? It's easy when everyone contributes. What if as a parent, I don't know anything about cricket? It's not essential for some jobs and you can always learn. The club often offers training and information sessions at the start of the season. Social functions Does the club have social functions for juniors and parents? Yes, please watch the website and your email. There are many club functions during the season that we encourage our juniors and parents to attend. Can't find the answer you're looking for?
