Attached you will find very important & newley updated Recreation Director information regarding the summer program. Please make certain to read through this rjette@franklin.ma.us packet in its entirety, and fill in the necessary information. Please complete the registration form carefully and enter all emergency phone numbers where you can be contacted. You can also register at the Town of Franklin Recreation Department or on the Franklin Megan Woodacre Recreation website. Kaitlynn Williamson We must have a photo of your child in order to accept registration. Camp Director kaitlynnfwilliamson@gmail.com POLICY CHANGES: REGISTRATION, FIELD TRIPS, LIT NEW THIS SUMMER: 1. We have now extended camper age to 14 years old and have eliminated the CIT Dianne Wilson program. We now are offering a Leader in Training Internship Program (LIT) for 15 & 16 Office Assistant year olds. This will include an interview process, and we will choose a limited number of dwilson@franklin.ma.us candidates. If your 15 & 16 year old is interested, please contact us. Limited spots available. 2. Our new policy requires all campers be registered by the Friday before camp starts. Sheila Adiletto Registration/payment will NOT be accepted onsite at King Street or Choate Park under any Office Assistant circumstances due to liability reasons. Registration will be closed on Saturday's & Sunday's sadiletto@franklin.ma.us so be sure to register your child up early. No weekend registration. 3. Again this summer we will be doing weekely field trips on Wednesday's (except for week 6 which is a Thursday Pawsox game). Registration for the field trips MUST be done at the latest the Friday before camp due to policies and procedures of the companies we will be Sign up BEFORE May 15th to visiting during our field trips. Again, payment and registration for field trips will NOT be receive a 20% CAMP accepted on site at King Street or Choate Park. DISCOUNT . See coupon attached. Our program begins at 8:30 am each day and finishes at 3:30 pm. We have early drop off or late pick up available at an additional cost of $10.00 each day per child. Please make arrangements to have your child picked up promptly. Our drop off and pick up policy is also enclosed within. The program meets at King Street Memorial Field and/or Choate Park, unless otherwise noted. On rain dates, we will move our program indoors (school TBD). All costs are included in the weekly fee, except for the ice cream truck. Please inform us of any medical conditions/allergies before registering your child. Our staff will not administer medications other than epi-pens. AGAIN THIS SUMMER: 3 Day Option. This summer we will be offering a 3 day option for camp.The cost of the program is $100 for 3 days. You can sign up for any 3 days of the week but you must specify which days you would like to attend camp when you register in the notes section or anywhere on the registration form. We are offering 9 weeks of summer camp! Due to the weather, we are not sure if there are going to be a few snow days. Rather than push the start of summer camp back, we decided to take a chance and offer a 3 day session 6/24-6/26. Welcome to Franklin/Medway Summer Camp Important Camp Information and Camp Activity Schedule We are looking forward to a fun-filled summer! We have a few requests to help make your child’s camp experience the best it can be! What to bring: Please make sure that your child has a hat and sunscreen, as well as a towel and swimwear each day. We may use sprinklers, etc. on days that are not designated water days, especially if it is very hot. We encourage that swimwear be worn under any other clothing if possible. Also, please make sure that your child has sneakers for sports activities. Please make sure to send your child with plenty of beverages a snack for snack time and a lunch. Extras: The Ice Cream truck comes each day at 2:00 pm If you want to send your child with money for ice cream, please send them with no more than $2.00, and be sure to discuss with your child a safe place where you would like them to keep their money (backpack, etc) as counselors will not be responsible for your campers money. Label, Label, Label: Please label all of your child’s belongings. We do not have a lost and found and we are not responsible for lost or missing items . Please check to be sure your child has all of his/her things when you pick them up. Rain Days: In the event of rain, camp will be moved to a school in Franklin (School still TBD). Please call the Recreation weather line at 520-4909 ext. 2 on rain days. Drop off and pick up will take place at the designated school. Pick-Up: All campers must be picked up no later than 3:30 pm, unless you are on the late pick up list. It is essential that parents check in with their child’s counselor at pick-up. Also, a picture ID is required for parents picking up if they are not the parent who dropped off. Special Activity Schedule Mondays- Start off your camp experience by meeting out highly trained and enthusiastic staff Tuesday- Wa wa water slide!! Wednesday- Weekly field trips!! We will be going to zoos, arcades, bowling, paintballing Pawsox game and other fun outings. Field trips are a separate fee of $20.00 and must be paid during camp registration. Due to limited spots, please sign up early. Thursday- Get your camp shirts tie dyed by our experts! Waterslide Thursday! Friday- Friday Funday, with Pizza lunch! We may mix in cook outs during the summer Other fun activities will be added to this as we get closer to our first day of camp. Wednesday Field Trip Schedule All Field Trips will be an additional fee on-top of summer camp. We will need to have a FINAL head count the Friday before the field trip date to let the company know how many tickets to print, etc. Some field trips will be longer than others. Most will be half day field trips. Please call the Recreation Department to sign up for any of the field trips below. **YOU MAY NOT SIGN UP THE DAY OF THE FIELD TRIP** Week 1: Ryan's Amusement- BOWLING Do you enjoy candlepin bowling?! If so, this is the perfect field trip for you!! Please bring a lunch and a snack for your camper. Week 2: Southwick's Zoo Are you an animal lover?! Than lets head to Southwick's Zoo together and explore animals, reptiles, bugs and much more!! Please bring a lunch and a snack for your camper. Week 3: Pinz- Laser Tag, Balladium and Arcade! Have you ever wished you could crawl into a video game and become one of the players? Well, here's your chance to be part of a real life video game! Upon arrivial, we will play some glow in the dark bowling followed by arcade time and lunch! Please bring a lunch and a snack for your camper. Week 4: Biomes Marine Biology Center The Biomes Center is New England's only private marine education facility and the most hands-on aquarium in the region. They specialize in teaching children and adults about the marine animals of Narragansett Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Please bring a lunch and a snack for your camper. Week 5: Paw Sox Let's cheer on the Paw Sox as they take on the Norfolk Tides on Thursday July 30th. This is a afternoon game, 12:05pm game time. Please bring a lunch and a snack for your camper. Week 6: Roger Williams Park Zoo One of our nation’s oldest zoos (opened in 1872), Roger Williams Park Zoo is an integral part of southern New England’s history and heritage, bringing excitement and discovery of the natural world to generations of visitors. The Zoo is home to well over 100 species of rare and fascinating animals from all over the world. The Zoo is also home to many endangered species and participates in cooperative conservation and breeding programs to help ensure their future survival. Please bring a lunch and a snack for your camper. Week 7: LEGOLAND Play your part at LEGOLAND as we build LEGO Race Cars during our Race Car workshop!! Please bring a lunch and a snack for your camper. Week 8: Mystic Aquarium Meet New England's only Beluga Whales, gain a whole new perspective on penguin life, and get your hands on the chilling side of nature with some creatures that are cold-blooded and seriously cool! Please bring a lunch and a snack for your camper. **For many of the field trips, we will be leaving camp via school bus provided by Holmes Bus Company at 10am. Lunch will be had at the field trip location. We will try our best for kids to be back in time for pick up at 3:30pm. If we are set to arrive after 3:30pm, we will notify all field trip parents via email. For those who do not wish to attend field trips, camp will still run as normal at King Street/Choate Park. Please remember, field trips are optional at an additional cost.**
