track are home to many of Formula 1’s team factories, so the chances of
you driving past one are pretty high! 8km north of the track is Towcester,
famed for its traditional pubs and fare. If retail therapy is your tonic, take
a trip to Bicester Village, situated 15 miles from Silverstone and home to
more than 130 shopping outlets.
The Navigation Pub in Towcester is home to some proper ‘pub grub’, and a
perfect spot to enjoy a summer’s evening with the locals after a long day
at the track. Located in the Midlands of England, London, like many of the
country’s major cities, is just over an hour’s drive from the race track, and
the perfect excuse to extend your stay. One of the world’s most popular
tourist destinations, the list of things to do is endless. From Buckingham
Palace to Westminster Abbey, London is a must-see.

The 2009 World Champion grew up in the sport, maturing from a carefree Last Race

youngster into a seasoned survivor whose perseverance paid off in a fairy tale

finish with a team that came from nowhere. English
With many onlookers comparing him to the late world champion Ayrton
Senna, Button took the 1998 British Formula Ford championship. A year later,
he was quick and confident in testing one of multiple world champion Alain
Prost’s F1 cars. The result, an invitation to test a Williams F1® car, which
ultimately landed.
Button’s winless record in F1 ended with a somewhat fortuitous first victory
in the 2006 Hungarian Grand Prix. Ineffective cars in the next two seasons
kept him far away from the forefront and prompted Honda to make a
shock withdrawal from the sport late in 2008. Then came the miraculous
resurrection that began just three weeks before the first race of the new
season with a management takeover led by team principal Ross Brawn.
Against all the odds and expectations, the Brawn-Mercedes driven
superbly by Jenson Button won six of the first seven races. Jenson steadily
accumulated more than enough points to lead the standings all season long,
clinching the driving title and helping secure the Constructors’ Championship
for Brawn.
Button’s last appearance in an F1 car came in 2017 for McLaren-Honda
(deputizing for Fernando Alonso), at Monaco, marking the end of his illustrious
F1 career, in which he claimed 15 wins and 50 podiums in 305 Grands Prix.
