Nominate an OMHS Hero Today! OMHS is excited to be able to recognize the work of our amazing volunteers this year through our Volunteer and Community Awards Program. Whether they are doing administrative tasks, working with the animals, or out engaging the community we would not be able to provide
the same quality of care for the animals or our community without them. Two new awards added this year to the program will also recognize both a youth (Youth Animal Crusader) and a business/corporation (Outstanding Corporation Award) that have significantly contributed to the quality of life for animals through fundraising and donations to the OMHS. Our Volunteer and Community Awards Program now has six categories in total, the other four are: · Outstanding Volunteer Service Award · Outstanding Youth Achievement Award · Foster Family of the Year · Lifetime Achievement Award The awards will be presented virtually during our Annual General Meeting on June 28th and the recipients will be featured on our website, social media channels and in Fetch. Veterinarian Spotlight: Two New Clinic Partners Building relationships with our community of veterinarians is
important to OMHS, so we are excited to announce two new clinic partners this month. These partnerships will enable us to provide needed surgeries and physical rehabilitation for the animals. When we receive animals that have been injured they are rushed to one of our community veterinary partners to receive the care they need. Broken bones top the list for one of the more common injuries from accidents involving cars. Equally important as the surgery is the follow up support to ensure the animal gains full mobility of the affected limb. Read more. May is Leave a Legacy Month The Husemann's Love of Animals Lives on Through Their Gift Walter and Inge Husemann’s spent a lifetime caring for the animals, and thanks to the couple's compassionate gift in their Will, their work to make the lives of animals better still continues today. Gifts by Will are critically important to protecting the future generations of abused and neglected animals. By leaving a gift in your Will, you have the power to change the lives of homeless, and abused animals who will depend on the OMHS to rescue them in the future. Learn more about the Husemann’s generosity and how you can plan your own gift for the animals in our community here. During Legacy Month we remember and thank all our donors who have planned a special tribute in their Will for the future injured wildlife and homeless animals needing a safe, humane haven in our community.
