OCS Returning to Mask Optional: Beginning Monday, February 7, 2022, OCS will implement a mask
optional policy for all schools, and remove the mask requirement. OCS numbers have reached a low level of
positive cases, and we feel comfortable moving forward with the option to wear a mask for all students, staff and
visitors. Students and bus drivers must still wear a mask on buses per the federal transportation requirement. OCS
will continue with our mask optional policy at all after school athletic and extracurricular events.
Panoramic Class Pictures (Deadline Extended): Panoramic Class (7th and 8th Grade) pictures were taken week.
Picture order envelopes were provided to students. The deadline for orders is Friday, February 11th.
REMINDERS:
8th Grade Scheduling for Clay High School: During the month of February, all 8th graders will meet with Mr.
Maletich to review and schedule courses for Clay High School. Students were provided an appointment time.
Students will take home a tentative listing of courses for their freshman year. If you have any questions and/or
concerns, please email or call Mr. Maletich at tmaletich@orgeoncs.org or 419.693.0455.
Academic Practice Boards: Each Fassett teacher places Academic Practice (AP) assignments for the week on
their respective grade level’s AP Board. Please use this valuable resource to ensure your child is staying up-to-date
with his/her assignments. AP Boards can be found here on the OCS website, or via the links below.
7th Grade Academic Practice Board 8th Grade Academic Practice Board
After-School Academic Practice (AP) Program: The AP program is an opportunity for students to stay after
school to complete academic practice (homework). If a student does not complete his/her academic practice,
his/her parent/guardian will be contacted, and provided the option to stay after school for the AP program. If the
student completes his/her academic practice during the AP program, he/she will receive credit for the work. The AP
program takes place in the library, after school, until 3:40 p.m., Monday through Friday. Students must
arrange for a ride home from the AP program.
Agenda Books: Students are required to carry their agenda book with them at all times. Along with our Digital Hall
Pass, agenda books are the only way a student will be issued a hall pass. Replacement agenda books cost $5.00.
Attendance: Please contact the Fassett Attendance Hotline at 419.697.9911 if your child is going to be absent
from school, or if he/she is in need of an early dismissal due to a medical appointment or family emergency. A
medical note is required for an excused absence. Notes can be sent to school with students.
FASSETT JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL WEEKLY UPDATES & REMINDERS
Blood Drive: The annual Fassett-Red Cross Blood Drive will take place on Wednesday, February 23rd, 3:00-7:30

Breakfast and Lunch Menu for Second Semester: Please see the attached menu for the second semester
breakfast and lunch calendar.
Classroom Disruptions Due to Student Items: We make every effort possible to avoid disrupting classrooms.
When an item needs to be dropped off for a student, please communicate via email or text to your child. Your child
is able to check his/her email throughout the day, and is able to check his/her cell phone during homeroom and
lunch. If an item needs to be picked up from the office, the most convenient times are during homeroom, academic
assist, and at the end of the school day. Classrooms will no longer be called to inform students of an item in the
office. Thank you in advance for your support in our effort to limit disruptions to the educational process.
College Credit Plus (CCP) Informational Meeting: Taking place Thursday, February 10th, 6:00-7:00 p.m. in the
CHS Cafeteria. If your son or daughter is interested in participating in College Credit Plus for the 22/23 school
year, please plan to attend an informational meeting. CCP is open to all students in grades 7-12. This meeting will
cover a variety of topics including application instructions, eligibility, pros/cons, etc. Local college reps will also be
present to give updated CCP information for their individual college/university. In order to participate in the CCP
program during the 22-23 school year a parent/guardian MUST either: 1) attend the informational meeting or 2)
request a recording of the meeting from Mrs. Birr. She can be reached by email at bbirr@oregoncs.org or by phone
at 419-697-3434 x2. Additionally, all students interested in the CCP program for the 22/23 school year must turn in
an Intent to Participate form to their school counselor by April 1, 2022. The form will be handed out at the
informational meeting or will be emailed if a recording of the meeting is requested. Current CCP students do not
have to attend the meeting/request a recording, however, they must turn in the Intent to Participate form by April 1,
2022.
Drop-Off (Morning) and Pick-Up (Afternoon): Student safety is our top priority. To ensure the safety of everyone,
as well as an effective and efficient process, if you drop-off and/or pick-up your student(s) from FJHS, please follow
the route outlined in the attached map, and please adhere to drop-off and pick-up times outlined above.
Electronic Devices: Students are permitted to bring their personal electronic device (i.e., cell phone) to school.
With the exception of the time (7:20-7:50 a.m.) before school when students are in Homeroom, during lunch, and
times with direct permission from a staff member, students are not permitted to use a personal electronic device.
Students may lock their personal electronic device in their locker. If a student chooses to keep their personal
electronic device with them during the school day, he/she must place the personal electronic device in their
bookbag or the classroom cell phone holder.
