CENTRAL OTAGO & FIORDLAND 9 NIGHT / 10 DAY – FLY-BIKE-CRUISE CRUISE ITINERARY Day 1 – Saturday 27 March 2021 Afternoon - Free to explore. Take the short walk up to the Clyde Dam, check out the river trail or just relax in historic Midday flight with Air New Zealand Auckland to Clyde and enjoy its cafes and unique stores. Queenstown. On arrival early afternoon transfer to the hotel. Free afternoon. Evening – A dinner seating reservation has been made at the wonderful Olivers Restaurant (Tables reserved due to limited capacity but meal not included). Hotel: The Rees, Queenstown - Lakefront Hotel: Olivers Lodge & Stables – various room types Day 4 – Tuesday 30 March 2021 Day 2 – Sunday 28 March 2021 Otago Rail Trail: Oturehua to Lauder – 22km – 2h 20m This morning we head to Arrowtown where we join a historic walking tour, before visiting A.J Hacket Bungy at This morning we are transferred to Oturehua to enjoy a Kawarau Bridge, then Gibbston Valley Winery with time for ride on a lovely section of the original Otago Rail Trail. a visit to their Cheesery & deli before a Cave & Winery tour and wine tasting, followed by platter lunch on the terrace. Afternoon & Evening - free Day 3 – Monday 29 March 2021 After a leisurely breakfast the team from Central Cycle Trail Company will transfer us to Clyde, via the spectacular Kawarau Gorge. (85kms) On arrival in Lauder we are transferred a short distance to Ophir – NZ’s statistically hottest and coldest village – to award winning Pitches Store for lunch (included) Mid-afternoon transfer back to Clyde. Free time. Evening – A dinner seating reservation has been made at the wonderful Olivers Restaurant (Tables reserved due to limited capacity but meal not included). On arrival in Clyde the CCT team will give you a briefing and Hotel: Olivers Lodge & Stables – various room types introduce you to your e-bikes so you are ready to hit the trails tomorrow.
Day 5 – Wednesday 31 March 2021 Today’s cycling starts with a leisurely lakeside ride into Cromwell and its Historic Precinct for a coffee stop, before Roxburgh Gorge Trail: continuing along the lake where the trail tracks under the Lake Roxburgh to Shingle Creek – 12km – 1h 30m Bannockburn Bridge then along the new trail to Carrick Shingle Creek to Doctor’s Point – 40mins – Jetboat Vineyard where a wine tasting and lunch awaits you – A Doctor’s Point to Clyde – 22km – 3hours great way to finish your Otago cycling experience, before you are shuttled back to Pisa Moorings. Bag transfer: Clyde to Pisa Moorings, Cromwell Balance of afternoon and evening free. This morning we are shuttled to Lake Roxburgh Dam to commence today’s trail ride. There are no food or refreshment shops on the first sector to Shingle Creek. At Shingle Creek we take a jetboat up the mighty Clutha Day 7 - Friday 01 April 2021 – Good Friday River to Doctor’s Point where we re-join the cycle trail. From here it is a 10km ride to Alexandra for a refreshment We are transferred this morning to Alexandra Airport stop before continuing to Clyde (12kms). where we meet the team from Air Milford for the scenic flight to Te Anau and a short drive to Manapouri. At 4:00pm the shuttle takes us back up the road to Cromwell and Pisa Moorings. Hotel: Heritage Lake Resort – 1 bedroom overwater villa Day 6 – Thursday 01 April 2021 Lake Dunstan Trail: Pisa Moorings to Cromwell Historic Precinct – 1 hour Cromwell to Carrick Vineyard – 8kms – 1 hour
Our Doubtful Sound cruise adventure will start in Manapouri with a boat transfer across Lake Manapouri to West Arm, where you will change to a coach to travel over the Wilmot Pass to Deep Cove. Here you will capture breath-taking vistas of Doubtful Sound and the surrounding Mountains. We will board the Fiordland Jewel at Deep Cove.
