EuropeanBestDestinations.com, the most visited website dedicated to tourism in Europe, In partnership with the European Commission's EDEN network and media partners Forbes US and Condé Nast Travelers is pleased to announce the 10th edition of “European Best Christmas Markets”. 20 destinations selected on the basis of their Christmas Market offer will be promoted to mil- lions of travellers, media and tourism professionals among the best Christmas markets to visit in Europe in 2021-2022. The emphasis which EBD puts on city market- ing and promotion is very valuable to us. We enjoyed a + 41% growth of overnight stays after winning the EBD contest”.
Mr Ante Galic – Zadar Tourist Board: "The year that we have been awarded "European Best Destination" we have had a record growth of +13% in overnight stays, when our yearly growth for many decades was of 6%. During this special year we reached a new administrative record of 447,925 arrivals and 1,721,928 overnight stays". Mr Emmanuel Fromm, Colmar Tourist Board: "Our collaboration with European Best Destinations has undeniably brought us an excellent com- plement of visibility and notoriety. EBD is one of the few organizations whose credibility is systematically repeated many times by the media as soon as our destination is quoted.. We hope to be able to count on their support for a long time!".
USE OF LOGO EUROPEAN BEST DESTINATIONS Porto, Bordeaux, Zadar, Istanbul, Lisbon, Wroclaw, Budapest,… (European Best Destinations winners during the past 10 years) but also Strasbourg, Zagreb, Tallinn, Basel, Budapest (European Best Christmas Markets winners) or Val Thorens, Livigno, Avor- iaz, SkiWelt, Alpe d’Huez (European Best Ski Resorts since 2010) have integrated the logo into their website, videos, paper communications (city maps, brochures, flags…) and communicated it to tourism professionals (hotels, airports, airlines) who all proudly display the logo on their websites. The 20 selected destinations are allowed to use the title and display the "European Best Christmas Markets” logo on all their communications, adverts, website and photos as well as their public and private partners. We will share their news, photos and videos throughout the year via our website to + 6 million travellers and via our major social networks.
INTERNATIONAL COVERAGE FOR THE 20 SELECTED DESTINATIONS More visitors: Thanks to The "European Best Christmas Market " award, promoted destinations benefit from significant tourism growth (from + 13% to + 41% which is the case for a. o. Zagreb, elected Best Christmas Destination in 2016 and 2017). More visibility: This European title also offers the 20 selected destinations an important media coverage: · Upon the official communication of their selection. · During the 10 days competition. · When the results are announced (with official communication to Forbes, Condé Nast, Dove,… · During the whole year with an international promotion on the most visited website dedicated to Christmas Markets in Europe. The positive impact of this award is still palpable several years later (more hotel investments, new airlines,…). The selected destinations are also more advertised by airlines and tour operators… Mrs Janique Liban – Dinant Tourism Board " Not only the first three destinations on the podium benefit from such a contest but all of them! 0ur destination was ranked 11th and worldwide press articles were written about us; We had a + 27.5% growth of visitors in 2019.”

The main national newspapers, specialist press, blogs, specialized sites, television and social networks etc… ensure that the winning city and the other selected destinations are fully covered (1,120 press articles for the competition “European Best Destination 2021” and + 80 million media coverage for our members destinations since 2009). It has become the meeting place for tourism offices and world travellers, a main gateway to the discovery of Europe. Since 2009 EBD has been working with major tourism offices in Europe to reward and highlight the most visited destinations via its website and social networks (+6 million visitors and thousands of followers on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and 80,000,000 euros of media coverage). We carry out the main tourism competitions in Europe and have been working with the European Commission for the promo- tion of sustainable tourism for 5 years. 90 EDEN-labelled destinations are promoted on the EBD website and we manage their communications.
