Editorial After months of the health crisis, we can’t wait to take our city back this summer. This year, we have emphasised a summer programme in every neighbourhood to renew connections with the City, those who live here and those who come to visit. “Invitation to Imagination” is a common thread running through the summer programme developed by the City of Strasbourg to liberate and deconfine our imagination. This generous, ambitious offering is spread out throughout all of Strasbourg’s neighbourhoods, based on three lines: exploration, inspiration, respiration. Exploration : With the lighting on the Cathedral and the Tour du Schloessel, you can take a tour to discover the historical built heritage on the Place du Château, as well as the little-known wooded heritage of the Parc Naturel Urbain. Three spaces can be visited on the Malraux Peninsula: a green space with an experimentation area for discovery and a fresh cool atmosphere, a beach space with a rest area and an aquatic space with a 12-metre waterfall and towed rafts. Inspiration : A particularly rich and varied cultural programme throughout the summer in every neighbourhood, notably with 8 open-air cinema evenings, the Festival des Arts dans la Rue (Street Arts Festival) every Saturday from 17 July to 21 August, concerts and theatre productions at the Contades kiosk and the traditional Symphonie des Arts at the Jardin des Deux Rives from 1 to 4 July. Respiration : Open to everyone, alone or in groups, in open access or with a guide, free of charge, we offer a multitude of sporting activities on the City’s 3 sports grounds: Ile aux Sports at Wacken, Baggersee and Hautepierre. The people of Strasbourg are sure to find an activity to their liking between the fun aquatic and sports activities and all the laid-back activities. This summer programme is made possible by the commitment of people who ensure our health protection and security at each site, our urban sanitation agents and everyone working in the shadows to make Strasbourg more vibrant for its residents and the tourists visiting our beautiful city. Have an excellent summer! Jeanne Barseghian Mayor of Strasbourg
