NEWS GROUND HAS BROKEN FOR MILLCREEK COMMON Announcements MILLCREEK. On Tuesday, Millcreek broke ground for Millcreek Common, the public plaza PUBLIC MEETINGS and open space that will become a gathering spot for all of Millcreek. Planning Commission Wed., 3/17/21, 5 pm An ice ribbon, a splash pad, ground floor retail, 3330 S 1300 E and a food truck park, will be highlights of the See agenda below open space plaza. Pizza Nono, the popular 9th and 9th establishment, will be opening a second Meeting will be Virtual location as the first eatery on Millcreek Common. View Live Stream here Invitations were unfortunately limited because of COVID-19 restrictions, but Mayor Silvestrini was joined at the groundbreaking by County Mayor Jenny Wilson, State Senator Jani Iwamoto, County Councilmembers Ann Granato and Steve DeBry, and the Millcreek City Council, as well as City staff and the chairs
of Millcreek's Planning Commission and Community Councils. Representatives of EPG Design (who designed the open space) and Hogan Construction were also present. Several enthusiastic young Millcreekers toted their ice skates to the ceremony in honor of and in anticipation of the ice ribbon. The City is hoping to have the ice ribbon open for Thanksgiving weekend. Millcreek Common is Phase One of the Millcreek City Center Master Plan. The Master Plan was created in response to Millcreek residents' expressed desire for a vibrant and accessible city center. The anticipated completion date for Phase One is November 2021. COVID-19 VACCINATION NOTICE The Salt Lake County Health Department advised today that very shortly they will be opening vaccination appointments for the general adult population. People who are currently eligible will no longer have priority, and will likely end up in a much longer line if they don't sign up now. CLICK HERE to determine if you are eligible. Kyrene Benfield Emily Marsh Rachel Berry Diarra Niang Sadie Bowen Lucy Peterson Sami Child Willa Robbins Sophia Flatt Ben Tward Zoe Garver Esther Valero Grace Marsh These service scholar recipients reflect a broad overview of Skyline's 2021 graduating class. They are an incredibly talented, diverse and resilient group of students who have collectively given more than 2,970 service hours in their efforts to clothe, warm, and comfort people in our local community and beyond. We are so proud of these students (several of whom are members of the Millcreek Youth Council). We thank them for representing the most adaptable, strong-willed, and courageous students of this generation. We look forward to watching these Eagles as they continue to live and serve others with the talents they have begun to hone at Skyline High School. CONGRATULATIONS!

Register Here Math Tutoring Available This Summer Through AmeriCorps The AmeriCorps Utah Summer Math Tutoring Initiative is coming this summer to help students recover from disrupted learning due to the pandemic. AmeriCorps members will be available to directly tutor students. AmeriCorp tutors will use the K-12 Mathematics Personalized Learning Software provided by the Utah STEM Action Center. This software is individualized, self-adapting, engaging, and provides frequent feedback while addressing core standards in math. Tutors will serve in a full-time capacity from June - September of 2021. If you
know of any school, after-school program, or nonprofit organization interested in hosting this program, please have them complete the interest form by this Sunday, March 14th. There is no cost associated with hosting one or more AmeriCorps tutors at your school, program, or nonprofit organization. UTA Is Helping Residents Get Their Shot UTA is offering free fare through June 30th to get riders to their COVID-19 vaccination appointments. The free fare is valid on all UTA modes, including TRAX, FrontRunner, S-Line, bus, Ski bus, Paratransit, UTA’s On Demand service, and PC-SLC Connect. Riders with confirmed vaccination appointments will need to show their appointment confirmation as proof of fare when they board. The confirmation may be printed or shown on a mobile device, including email or text confirmation. UTA will also accept the vaccination card with the appointment
date as proof of fare. Paratransit riders can schedule rides as usual by calling 801-287-7433. Please mention you’re traveling to your scheduled appointment and show your confirmation. CONSTRUCTION UPDATES REMINDER- BE SAFE, PROTECT CONSTRUCTION WORKERS AND SAVE YOURSELF A TICKET! Starting March 10th, the speed limit on 3900 South between 2300 East and Wasatch Boulevard has been reduced from 40 MPH to 25 MPH to ensure the safety of crews performing construction activities. Remember, fines double for speeding in a work zone.
ROAD CLOSURE - CHAMBERS AVENUE Chambers Avenue between Highland Drive and 1300 East will be closed to allow for ongoing Millcreek Common construction activities beginning Monday, March 15th, and will remain closed until the fall. All driveways to adjoining businesses will remain open. Please use caution when visiting the area as construction vehicles may be present. human interaction with bees -- usually as they swarm or as they start building in unwanted places. Preserving bees helps our ecosystem and food supply.
