Endeavour Foundation is building 59 brand new purpose-built homes for
people with a disability and refurbishing another 26 homes over the next
three years as part of our My Home, My Life initiative.
It is no easy feat and you’re helping us get there.
This $35 million investment is the biggest investment in accessible housing
in our organisation’s history and construction has already begun on the first
15 new homes.
These new and refurbished homes will provide safe, affordable and long-
term accessible housing for 352 people with intellectual disability.
We believe a home is about more than bricks and mortar.
Our residents will have a place to truly call home and the independence to
live life in a way that they choose with the support they need.

The new home designs are adaptable and based around three stunning
design sets – Modern Contemporary, Coastal Hamptons and Country
Rustic.
These contemporary designed homes, built for just two to four residents
with a spare room for a support worker, will fit in seamlessly in any street in
Australia.
They will be built to the platinum standard of the Liveable Housing Australia
guidelines, meaning they are fully accessible, energy efficient, and are
packed with safety features.

Heidi lives independently with support
from Endeavour Foundation in Brisbane
and said the thing she likes the most
about her home is living with her friends
and having coffee with them.
“My favourite place in the house is my
room. I love the coffee machine and the
outdoor area too,” Heidi said.
“I like to listen to music and chill out in
my room. It has a relaxed atmosphere!”

The excited winner of Endeavour Foundation’s stunning Prize Home at Peregian
Springs doesn’t quite know when she will be able to step over the threshold of
her new, million-dollar home.
As a resident of New South Wales, under Queensland’s current border
restrictions, Amanda* is not permitted to enter the state until she is ready to
move into her new home. And even then, she will still be required to quarantine
for 14 days in government arranged accommodation before she can make her
way to her new neighbourhood of Peregian Springs.
“I’m looking forward to getting out of the cold. Where I’m living now it gets
down to minus three,” she said.
“I live in a village. There’s coffee shops, a post office, petrol station and a pub but
that’s it. I have to drive 25 minutes to get my shopping.”
At Peregian Springs, Amanda will be closer to everything, including the beach.
Once she’s made the move, her current one-hour-plus drive to the beach will
be slashed to just seven minutes, which means she and her dog will be able to
jump in the car every chance they get for the quick trip to Peregian Beach.
“I love the beach. I really love the water and I’ve got a Labrador and she adores
swimming.”
Amanda is eagerly awaiting to move into her new home and lifestyle.
But while she waits, she’s already imagining life in her luxurious new home
overlooking Peregian Golf Course. “Every night I look at the photos before I go
to bed,” Amanda said.
On what it means to be a winner, Amanda says “It does change your whole life.
It has enabled me to do things I wasn’t thinking I was going to be able to do, so,
thank you.”

This is the advice Townsville man David Verrall gives to anyone chasing a
dream that they thought was too hard or unachievable.
Living with an intellectual disability, it can take David a little longer to learn
new things. But recently, he earned his Medium Rigid Truck Licence with the
support of Endeavour Foundation.
Shelley Gowley, Production Manager for Endeavour Foundation Business
Solutions in Townsville, said the team had helped David accrue the many
supervised practice hours needed to pass the test by ensuring he was behind
the wheel at every opportunity.
“David has been learning to drive the truck onsite for more than seven months
and throughout this time he has been a very safe and responsible driver,” Ms
Gowley said.
“I have loved that David has always been persistent in getting behind the wheel
and wanting to get lots of experience to help with his confidence and his
driving test.”
“We are so proud of him – he’s truly an inspiration.”
To David, the licence is more than a piece of paper, it represents the completion
of a life-goal and means he can work more independently.
“It is the best feeling to achieve my truck licence,” David said. “I want to
thank my manager, Shelley, and the other staff at Endeavour Foundation in
Townsville for believing in me and giving me encouragement, support and
guidance.”
