WELCOME TO
THE ELECTIVES PROGRAMME
Electives is a programme of activities that fulfils our ambition to provide ‘extra’ provision for
our students at Archbishop Sentamu Academy.

These Electives take place during lesson time and are in addition to our existing range
of extra-curricular clubs which will continue to run throughout the week. It is expected that all
students in Years 7 and 8 take part in the Elective Programme.

In order to encourage a varied programme of learning, the Electives are organised into three
categories. Students have the opportunity to make their choices from:
• Citizenship, Service, Enterprise and Leadership
• Curriculum and Cultural Enrichment
• Personal Leisure, Health and Well-Being

Across the year, it is expected that students will access choices across the three areas.

During the term, we promote Electives through assemblies, tutor time and the Electives area of
the school website. A selection form will be sent electronically to parents to make the choices
with their son/daughter for the term ahead. Students select and rotate three times in the year.
