Royal Ascot 3 Royal Ascot is one of the most famous race meetings in the world with over 300 years of history and is a sporting venue rich in heritage and culture and attended by members of the British Royal Family as they arrive in a horse-drawn carriage. Royal Ascot A national institution, Royal Ascot is the centrepiece of the British social calendar. Each year, the tradition, pageantry and fashion combine at one of the most beautiful settings in the country and the fashion holds no bounds. There are few sporting events that can match the rich history of racing at Ascot. Over 300,000 visitors attend the event over the 5 day racing carnival. The quality of the racing at Royal Ascot is simply outstanding, with nearly £4 million in prize money on offer and a total of eighteen ‘Group’ races over the five days. At least one group race is run every day of the carnival. The Kings Stand Stakes on the first day and the Golden Jubilee Stakes is run on the last day. Australian horses have been successful in these events in the past and no doubt they will have a strong representation in these events again in 2020.
