They could have relocated anywhere in the world, but they chose Carbondale. They love the access to killer riding, amazing events and outstanding locally crafted beers and spirits, among other things. They just wish housing was a little more affordable! Yes, the downside to a spectacular community is that being a part of it is in high demand so it takes a strong will to make it work. Why not wear a tutu? Who decides how to dress to impress? Ever seen a super hero kid confidently swaggering around the grocery store in his or her cape? Why should they get to have all the fun? Aren’t we all just kids stuck in adult bodies anyway? The two best perks of Parks and Rec are the fun and the infinite dress code. And more often than not, they go hand in hand. Sometimes we dress to impress at races as a turkey or a Yeti. Sometimes we dress to impress at special events as Santa or the Easter Bunny. Sometimes we dress to impress during programs with matching socks, or hats, or t-shirts with clever slogans. And yes, sometimes we dress to impress in tutus. Recreation should be fun. So should life. If you’re looking to outfit your day with some fun, come find us. We would love to help incorporate more enjoyment (whether costumed or not) into your every day. Side note: Remember that guy I mentioned above? The one that doesn’t like tutus? He is the same guy that once wore one of my skirts to participate in the Best Legs in a Kilt contest at Carbondale’s Annual Celtic Fest. And he has participated in by Jessi Rochel similar fashion at least twice. So all I can say is if he can do it, you can, too! 36 | 2019 | Carbondale Magazine Carbondale Magazine | 2019 | 37
