Frequently Asked Questions Q: Is transportation provided? A: Yes, transportation is available if needed. Call 612.668.2126 to arrange. Q: How many different languages are spoken by ECFE staff? A: ECFE has staff who speak Spanish, Somali, Oromo, Amharic, Hindi, Urdu, Konkani and Hmong. Q: Should I mail my payment or should I bring it to class? A: Once you have received confirmation of your enrollment in a class, we would appreciate you mailing your payment to our office. If you have applied online, your credit card with be charged once you are enrolled following the lottery. ECFE / Mona Moede 2410 Girard Ave. N. Mpls., MN. 55411 Q: What forms are required for participation in an ECFE class? A: ECFE needs a copy of your child's current immunization records each time you participate in a class. We also need a copy of your child's birth certificate in order to assign a student ID number that will be with your child throughout their schooling. This ID number also allows us to anonymously track how children attending ECFE do in school as compared to children who have not attended ECFE. If you have questions or concerns, please talk with your teacher on the first day of class. Q: Can my spouse or a grandparent attend class with me? A: Spouses and grandparents are welcome in classes whenever they are available (with the exception of Dads classes which are devoted to dads and their children). If spouses will attend together regularly, we ask that they also be registered as an attending member. Q: Some classes have a space to register for ‘sibling care,’ what does this mean? A. In most of our separating classes a limited number of infants (0-4 months) are welcome to stay with parents during parent discussion. We ask that you enroll them in the ‘sibling care’ option since they will remain with parents throughout the class. Q: Can I bring my child to school if s/he is sick? A: No. Parents and children should stay home when sick so as not to spread the illness to other families. Q: If my class does not work out for me and my child and we decide to cancel after the 1st session, can I be refunded the class fee? A: After the 1st class a refund will be prorated and a $12 processing fee charged. No refunds will be issued after the 3rd week of class. Application Q: Is there an advantage to applying online as opposed to waiting to register by phone? A: Yes, to be eligible for the lottery we must receive your application online, by fax or by mail. Only after the lottery is run, will phone registration be available to fill remaining openings. Q: Does it matter when I submit my application information i.e. on the first day application is accepted or the last day. A: No, it does not matter which day during the application period we receive your request. Q: Once I have submitted my application am I guaranteed a class? A: Unfortunately, no. We encourage families to list 3 choices for classes to increase the chances of getting into a class. If a family is not enrolled in a class for 1st semester and submits an application for second semester, they are given priority registration prior to our running the lottery. Q: When will I be notified whether I got into a class? A: If you applied online you will be emailed your enrollment information once the lottery is run. If you did not apply online your enrollment information will be mailed and you should be notified within a week of the lottery run date. If you have not received information after a week, please call our office at 612.668.2127. Class Offerings Q: I have an infant and an older child, what are my options for classes? A: You can enroll in a mixed age class (Birth-Kindergarten Enrollment) and attend with both of your children. Or, you can enroll in a Toddler class and bring your infant if s/he is under 5 months - the infant will remain with you in the Parent Education room during discussion. 20 ece.mpls.k12.mn.us/ecfe • Phone | 612.668.2127
