About Us Don Bosco International Media Academy (DBIMA) is an institution of Higher Education, registered and declared by the Rectorat de Paris and the Académie de Paris. (DBIMA est un établissement privé d’enseignement supérieur hors contrat immatriculé et déclaré auprès du Rectorat de Paris et de l’Académie de Paris. Training for the Film Industry The Bachelor of Arts in Cinema & Audiovisual and the Master of Arts in Cinema & Audiovisual are the two degrees intended for an international education. Courses are taught in English and four specializations are offered: 1. Directing 2. Image 3. Production 4. Post-Production. These two degrees are certified and recognized as European bachelor’s degree and European master’s degree. 4
About Us Work-Study Training This international media education was enriched in 2021 with a BTS in Audiovisual, Editing, and Post-production options as apprenticeship. Unlike the first two courses, this BTS is free of charge for the apprentice who has found a contract with a company. This French diploma is recognized by the state and imposes an intense rhythm on the students and prepares them for the technical work in the industry. Quality Teaching For all the degrees offered at DBIMA, the imparting of knowledge is ensured by working professionals selected for their approach and teaching experience. To ensure quality teaching, DBIMA has acquired important resources in the centre of Paris with a teaching staff of more than 35 professors with the state-of-the-art equipments. Our faculty reflects our choice of diversity as our teachers are coming from France, USA, Egypt, Spain, Sri Lanka, Iran, Russia, India, Venezuela. 5
Our History Every dream has a story… Don Bosco International Media Academy (DBIMA) is the first Salesian Cinema School in Europe to promote media education in 21st century. DBIMA aims to be an ingenious centre for All Youth through digital media training. The mission statement of DBIMA is opening doors of opportunities through media education for youth to inspire the digital and media world. Aims & Ethos The media industry is growing quickly worldwide, expected to reach approximately USD 6,709.4 billion by 2030. But education in arts and media is expensive, depriving passionate and talented youth the chance to study and gain employment in this burgeoning field. The mission of the Don Bosco International Media Academy is to offer every student regardless of economic means the best education in a technically advanced and artistically supportive environment. Master of Arts in Cinema and Audiovisual The main goal of our master program is to develop the personal vision of our students through a professional application of their student's end of year project. A specialization is mandatory for the 2nd year of master in: Cinematography, Script Writing, Directing, Postproduction, Sound Postproduction. For example, it is mandatory for a master student, specialized in scriptwriting, in their 2nd year to write a feature film project, from synopsis to development. This personal project, developed through one-on- one tutoring, can become the main professional project of the student right after the school. In the same way, it is mandatory for a master student, specializing in Cinematography to handle the responsibilities as Director of Photography work on a thesis project as the bachelor program, the master program is including: • Masterclasses are organized every month for students to meet advanced professionals and discover their careers, their choices, experience, as well as their actual work. • Practical classes are held twice a week at a minimum, from camera training, lighting courses, to sound-on-set courses as well as editing, colour grading and sound mixing courses (Master 1st year). • Each year, the last semester is a semester of the shoot known as a production period. • During their studies students are asked to complete and present several projects or finished works. • Grading considers presence, involvement, practice, and theory. • An elective option is mandatory in the 3rd year, thus creating a personal. • Schedule of studies with the mandatory achievement on DBIMA’s movies. • By the end of a student’s studies, they will have a personal show-reel to represent their work. • Linked to Paris and French art and culture, special courses can be held in Museums and Exhibitions. Bachelor of Arts in Cinema and Audiovisual The main goal of our bachelor program is to create a new generation of professionals with advanced theoretical and most important, practical skills. We formed our program for a direct insertion in professional cinema and the audiovisual world. Shifting between theoretical and practical courses for 3 years, our students are trained by professionals that are selected for their pedagogical approach and the transmission of their knowledge. Learning on equipment that is used in every professional environment and guided by teachers who are professionals in their activity, DBIMA students will be prepared for work as soon as they finish their bachelor program. As an international school of Cinema, we focus on transmitted knowledge that is applicable on every overseas shoot, and with a special attention on the European aesthetic and technics, as well as the transmission of the French cinema touch. BTS Métiers de l’Audiovisuel Option Montage et Post-Production Professionnel spécialisé, le monteur intervient sous la responsabilité d’un réalisateur, d’un producteur, d’un journaliste et/ou d’un responsable de post production ou d’un chef de projet effets visuels. Intégré dans l’équipe de réalisation d’un programme audiovisuel, son intervention s’articule avec celle des autres professionnels spécialisés engagés dans le projet. Il répond à une demande pour laquelle lui sont spécifiés des besoins et précisées des contraintes. Son métier requiert des compétences professionnelles, mais aussi des qualités humaines : créativité, sensibilité artistique, curiosité technologique, capacité à s’intégrer dans une équipe de production et dans une entreprise, à communiquer, à respecter une ligne éditoriale, à développer une argumentation et à convaincre. A l’issue de sa formation, l’élève devra POUVOIR être capable de : • Sélectionner, choisir les éléments (images et sons) issus du tournage • Assurer la construction narrative et participer à l’écriture d’un projet (reportage, documentaire, fiction, institutionnel, magazine, clip, publicité) • Analyser et interpréter le scénario • Agencer et assembler les images et les sons (montage son et/ou image). • Effectuer et comprendre les différents effets spéciaux, habillages, traitements et retouches d’images demandés dans l’univers esthétique et fonctionnel du projet (jingles, génériques, trucages 2D/3D, etc). En fonction de son potentiel, de formations Le Programme de notre BTS complémentaires et de l’expérience Le programme est défini par le ministère de professionnelle acquise, le titulaire du diplôme: l’Éducation Nationale et précisé par la Direction • Chef monteur générale de l’enseignement supérieur et de l’insertion • Étalonneur professionnelle dans sa circulaire de septembre 2016 • Stéréographies sur les Métiers du montage et de la postproduction • Infographiste • Réalisateur Les disciplines enseignées sont : • Culture Artistique et Audiovisuelle • Technique des Équipements et Supports • Sciences Physique appliquées à l’Audiovisuel • Anglais • Environnement Économique et Juridique • Épreuves pratiques dites Techniques et Mise en œuvre • Rapport de stage sur l’activité en entreprise et dossier de production en lien avec le PCP Diplôme de l’Éducation Nationale niveau III, le BTS Audiovisuel permet la poursuite d’études dans un cursus supérieur niveau II dans la même spécialité, comme une Licence de cinéma à l’Université, une licence pro. Un BTS Audiovisuel vous permet également de présenter les concours aux grandes écoles de cinéma publiques à savoir La FEMIS ou l’ENS Louis-Lumière. DBIMA est une Unité de Formation d’Apprentis rattachée à un Centre de formation d’Apprentis 21
DBIMA dispense au jeune travailleur sous contrat d’apprentissage : • une formation générale, d’une part sur le programme établi par l’éducation nationale • une formation technologique et pratique qui doit compléter la formation reçue en entreprise et s’articuler avec elle, en utilisant tous les moyens techniques de l’école. La durée de la formation Contrat d’apprentissage de 2 années dont 1400 heures réparties sur 2 ans dans notre établissement. Le rythme de l’alternance. A DBIMA, il est de deux semaines en entreprise pour 2 semaines en centre de formation DBIMA. L’étudiant possède le statut de salarié de l’entreprise contractant le contrat d’apprentissage, et, de ce fait ne bénéficie que des congés payés et non des vacances scolaires. Le rythme de travail, en entreprise comme en centre, est de 35 heures hebdomadaires. Il bénéficie de la protection sociale du salarié d’entreprise. L’examen L’apprenti est tenu de se présenter aux épreuves conduisant au titre prévu par son contrat d’apprentissage. L’employeur a pour sa part, l’obligation de laisser à l’apprenti le temps nécessaire pour y participer. Admission Les épreuves d’admission sont ouvertes aux titulaires, a minima, d’un baccalauréat général ou technologique toutes options. L’option montage post-production est une formation ou la culture générale est importante. Les élèves de section littéraire y ont toute leur place. Toutefois, il est à noter que l’examen de sciences physiques appliquées requiert un niveau scientifique minimum. Le BTS est un diplôme exigeant qui nécessite d’avoir un niveau scolaire suffisant pour réussir. L’équipe pédagogique DBIMA se réunit pour statuer sur chaque candidat. Elle prend en compte • Les bulletins scolaires de terminale : notes dans les matières significatives, appréciations des enseignants, absences. Le candidat doit montrer qu’il n’est pas réfractaire aux études. • Les épreuves complémentaires de sélection que DBIMA jugera utile de mettre en place. • La solidité du projet professionnel présenté lors d’un entretien individuel. 22

One Year Film Program Eligibility: For media students or film professionals who already have some prior studies and/or work experience but who require a diploma, this course offers a “fast-track” way to receive a degree in one year Curriculum: Advanced course in visual media, including concept creation, story development, scriptwriting, pre-production, production (filming) and post- production (editing, VFX and audio). Detailed syllabus will be communicated on the orientation day. Certification: Fastrack - FILM & TELEVISION Diploma to all students who successfully complete the one-year program, awarded by Don Bosco International Media Academy and Campus International Don Bosco. Scope: • An intense and thorough expediated course which provides a solid platform to explore new dimensions in the field of International Media and Entertainment. • This course prepares students for the burgeoning media field, and to be successful in the professional international world of Visual Media. • This course has 2 semesters. The first semester will be more on mastering the basic language in filmmaking. The second semester will be more on production and post-production on practical projects. 25

International Collaboration Don Bosco International Media Academy (DBIMA – Paris) and St. Xavier′s College (Autonomous), XIC – Mumbai, has signed a strategic collaboration to facilitate the media studies and research in the higher education. Students, who do a postgraduation diploma in Film, Television & Digital Video Production at XIC-Mumbai, can get the chance to do a concurrent(dual) post-graduation diploma at DBIMA-Paris; the students who complete the diploma course in XIC-Mumbai can be admitted to direct second year for master’s degree at DBIMA-Paris. 28
